The Nets were grey, the bathroom smelt of damp, the blanket on the bed looked moth eaten. I had to sleep in the car because the room upset my asthma so badly I couldnt sleep. No Wifi. scruffy carpets, jioned wityh red tape. Not a happy bunny.

I booked this hotel at the last minute after deciding to have a few drinks with colleagues.
Check in and check out was efficient, i did not bother with breakfast so can't comment on that.
The room was very good, spacious, clean and everything was in good working order.
I'd definitely be happy enough to stay again and if i...

The location of this hotel is fabulous, however disappointing is the 1970s chalet style extension tacked onto the back of the hotel. The main building is full of character with a lot of original features, but the additional rooms desperately need updating.
In our first room, the bed was sloping severely, upon inspection the casters were missing from one side...

We stayed at the Winchester Royal for the second year in a row.
Having stayed previously in the main building, this time we were in the newer part of the building, in a 'garden room'. The room, although adequate in size, did not have the same feel as the older hotel rooms. The room was a times cold, with no...

My wife booked the hotel and reserved a premier room (room 103) as it was our wedding anniversary. I could not determine why it was a premier room, it overlooked the front of the reception and the view from the window was the flat roof full of cigarette butts. Looking at the other reviews its been said before, the hotel...

On the face of it, this hotel was great. There wasn't anything you'd want to write and complain about. If they asked you: "did you enjoy your stay" you'd say "yes". The problem is, they didn't ask me that. That was the final one of the many, many little things that were wrong that made what could be a fabulous...

We had read mixed reviews for this hotel, but decided to give it a go as it was just for one night and was central. On arrival we were allocated a room in the new wing. We had reserved a Premier room and so were surprised by the tired decor, scuffed furniture, stained bathroom units, peeling paintwork and ripped bedspread....

We stayed at The Royal last weekend, for the fourteenth year on the run, as we do our Christmas shopping in Winchester, the staff are very friendly as always, however the rooms are very tired now, but we understand a refurbishment programme is begining in March, food is excellent and good value for money. I do however feel maybe certain...

Was a little nervous after seeing some indifferent reviews but was relieved to say the hotel was fine . Great location however car park was taken by shoppers! Got in there after parking in the towns car park later on only by chance when I saw a few shoppers leave. Hotel should put a barrier up with pass code for...

We felt disappointed with our stay at the Winchester Royal Hotel. Our room was grubby and tired, the shower was interesting!!! The whole hotel is very dated and in need of updating. Our arrival at reception was less than welcoming!!! We felt that the hotel didn't provide value for money. On the plus side its very central to the main...
