My partner and I stayed here last weekend for one night and we loved it. Nice welcome of tea and home made cake. Cat Pipin also very nice, sleeping by hearth. Lovely stay. Breakfast amazing as well! Definitely would recommend, perfect location for Ambleside or Hawkshead. Very homely and nice.

High Wray was even better than we had expected. Sheila and Chris were welcoming and helpful, with delicious cake and tea every afternoon and top-notch breakfasts. The location is terrific, with none of the Lake District crowds while only 5 minutes from either Ambleside or Hawkshead. As a secluded farm between Latterbarrow and Lake Windemere, there are several excellent walks... More

If you're looking for a minimalist, glass and chrome, featureless 21st century boutique hotel with little comfort and poor service then this may not be the place for you. However, if you're looking for charm, character, warmth, comfort, great service and scrumptious cakes (especially the Weetabix tea-bread) and breakfasts, then you've come to the right place. You will feel at... More

Beautiful setting. Quiet yet convenient for Ambleside and the many Fells that are just waiting to be climbed. Warm & comfortable, nicely decorated and very good facilities. First class breakfast options taken in pleasant surroundings. Sheila is very attentive and a great cook and the little extra offers of coffee with cake/shortbread add that extra bonus. Certainly will be coming... More

Wot a fantastic place to stay. Althou I am very biased as I ave an infinity for log burners, cats and homemade cakes all of which u will get at this B n B. We decided that this is the best b n b we ave ever stayed in and didnt want to come home. Although the weather was soooo... More

if you are looking for a perfect B&B in Hawkshead look no further.. I am almost reluctant to tell everyone how lovely High Wray Farm is in case we find its always booked up! Sheila makes you feel so welcome and the superb breakfast sets you up for the day even if tackling long walks or high fells. Its lovely... More

High Wray Farm: what a wonderful place! I will try to keep this short and sweet else my review could turn into a novel if I am not careful! Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Sheila who welcomed me in with coffee and cake by the fireplace in the lounge, which was just what I needed after a long... More

We are returnees and have just returned from another wonderful stay. It gets better every year with new little additions to add to the welcome. This year it was the decanter of sherry and an invitation for cold walkers to help themselves to a glass. On our next visit we might just be drawn away from Sheila's traditional farmhouse breakfast... More

This is a gem in the heart of Lakeland, with great views to Windermere and just a short drive to the Langdale valley. As others have previously said, we were warmly welcomed by Sheila (and by Fly, the dog) with a big pot of tea and home-made cakes and biscuits in front of the woodburner in the 17th Century living... Myself and my partner stayed here a short while ago - this has to be one of the best B&B's we have stayed in - we recieved a warm welcome from Sheila and the farmhouse is just beautiful and the fire in the cosy living room was just gorgeous! The care and attention to detail shines throughout from the homemade... More
