First and foremost the food was very, very good. We started with an amuse bouche of celariac mousse which was just to die far. The starters and mains were good, but not as good as the tarte tatin which was also out if this world. The setting is beautiful, we sat outside for some drinks before our meal - I'd... More

My husband and I stayed one night here, for my birthday in March. A long overdue review from us, and a rave one at that! We booked last minute and were able to secure the last room available - it was a superior double in the main building. As it was out of season, they took the one night booking,... More

En route somewhere else we stayed for one night. We stayed in deluxe room (no 10) which is in a slightly soulless annex building next door to the pub. It was perfectly clean and functional - but cheaply fitted and just a bit depressing. Dinner was full - but had no atmosphere - lots of occasion diners listening out for... More

We spent our last night in the Lakes District here and we could not have been happier. We were made to feel at home immediately. The room was quiet and cosy and the bath fantastic after a day of walking. We enjoyed the most devine scones, jam and cream for afternoon tea before being treated to a fabulous meal. The food... More

Stayed for 2 nights with dinner on one of the nights and had a great time. Location-beatiful. View of Ambleside, but out in the country. Easy access to Coniston, Hawkshead, Tarn Howes etc Bar & Restaurant-Had been updated since I last stayed & lovely. Open fire in bar, great wine list (if a tad pricey) and good selection of beers/lagers... More

Stayed here for a night in May. Room was nice and bed was comfy. Dinner in the pub was a mixed bag, the mains were excellent but the service was not good. Plates left at our table while staff repeatedly walked past and slow service with drinks. A shame because the cooking was very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Drunken Duck. Our room was lovely- the doggy prints were very cute. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and afternoon tea a special treat. With the chic, coziness of the rooms, the vibe of the pub and the wonderful food it was a most enjoyable stay. If all hotels and inns provided the... More

My wife and I first visited the duck 4 years ago in our mid 20's before we were married as a first holiday together and its lovely, relaxing setting has drawn us back there time and time again (5 times infact!). Mary the receptionist is always so friendly and your made to feel like a proper guest should be. The... More

Spent a Sunday night in February with hubby. A lot of snow had fallen on the Saturday evening so when we arrived late on the Sunday morning the whole area was covered in snow. It looked beautiful. We stayed in the Garden Room which is lovely (as it should be for the price) but they could spruce up the balcony... More
