We were a large group of about 25 blokes who all managed to book in to this large hotel. As I was a late commer I booked in via Late Rooms. com and could only get a double room at twice the price. When I checked in the receptionist told me of a recent cancelation and offered me a single... More

Our second visit here, and once again was not dissapointed. Yes you can find more upmarket and more expensive hotels, but this one will take some beating in terms of location, friendly service, and value for money. Couldnt fault the breakfast, and the drinks were reasonable too. If your looking for somewhere to stay in Ambleside give it a try.... More

We dropped in while in Ambleside, looking for a quick pub meal for the family. It is not easy to find reasonably priced meals in Ambleside but at least at the Queen's Hotel the meals were only a fiver a portion. The beer was nice. However, the portions were mean, the food was uninspired, and the fish was accompanied by... More

The hotel is one of the two original hotels that existed in Keswick and it does have a feeling of authenticity about it. The rooms were nice and spacious, homely and comfortable, although the hotel seems to be going through some changes to give the place a little more TLC to keep it up to date. There are lots of... This hotel is in the perfect location, the food in the evening is great and you get lots of it. We stayed in a family room with bunk beds which at first looked great but it could have done with being a lot cleaner in the bathroom and really needs renovating throughout. The breakfast wasn't brill the bacon was like... More

I stayed with colleagues at end of January. All staff, without exception, were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good with a varied choice. We had breakfast, lunch and evening meals - not one meal was a disappointment. I stay in a lot of hotels and often breakfast., even in expensive hotels, is not... More

Not the last word in luxury and we were upgraded to a superior room as there were few other residents but more than adequate. Staff especially friendly and accommodating. This is a characterful building (probably more so, years back). The room was spacious and whilst the bathroom was somewhat basic, it sufficed for what was a two-night stay. If this... More
