This hotel, which has more of a B&B atmosphere, is situated right in the center of Kendal and has secure parking to the rear at no extra cost. The rooms are tight and can be noisy, but are nicely restored and carry the antique character of the building. The landlady was pleasant and helpful and the breakfast tasty and satisfying.

This hotel is in an old building which has been refurbished, close to the centre of town, and with the benefit of a car park at the rear. The room I had was clean and comfortable. Rooms at the front can have a bit of traffic noise, but at the rear are very quiet. The owners are helpful and friendly.... More

On the plus side the car park is first class. Down side is this is a tired old hotel that looks as though it needed a facelift a long time ago. The worst part is that the whole hotel reeks of cigarette smoke which is caused by the landlady. (you could tell from her 20 a day voice). You could... More

It's the typical oldie worldie hotel, Tudor by design so it has the black rafters in the lobbiy. One thing that impressed was the car parking facilities, plenty of roon although don't expect the same if it snows, as they don't clear the carpark, so once it becomes hard packed BEWARE you're in for fun, Equally the pathway that they... Had an overnight stay at the Highgate recently as I and a friend attended a gig at the nearby Brewery Arts Centre. We were allocated single rooms and mine was quite large with a spacious bathroom area, a very comfortable bed, flatscreen tv and the usual tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast, cerials and a full English, was more than adequate.... More

On our driving holiday around the UK, we stopped for the night at this wonderful B&B. The girls greeted us very warmly and our accomodation was great with a fab breakfast. Secure parking is a bonus here. The Brewery behind Highgate was a great place also to wet our whistles.

We stayed here for 2 nights. There was no requirement for a deposit when booked over the phone. The room ,a twin ,was exceptionally clean, and warm if abit dated. Spare bedding for any cold nights was placed in the room. The full English breakfast was well cooked and the food was of good quality and plentiful. The hotel was... More

Have stayed here a few times because it is right next door to our friends house. It really could do with a bit of plastering and general decoration. The bathrooms could do with modernisation. The walls pretty much held together with woodchip wallpaper. The floors slope quite badly and there are some low parts to the rooms that you easily scuff...
