An immaculate, comfortable whitewashed detached house right in the middle of Borrowdale. Freindly and helpful host. We had a fabulous view of the fells from our bedroom window. Highly recommended for the coast to coast.

Rachel showed us the warmest of welcomes, taking our wet things and getting them clean and dry, serving tea and cake and even working miracles with our soggy boots! Very clean, knowledgable of the area and provided some good advice when walking over Green up Edge to Grasmere

The B&B's location was stunning and the house was very clean. The hostess, Rachel, was exceptionally accommodating to hiker's needs and served tea and biscuits on our arrival. The atmosphere was very homey, and we ended up having evening tea in the parlour with the other guests.

We just stayed with Rachel during day 3 of our Coast to Coast walk. She was an excellent hostess, welcoming us at the door, getting us quickly to our room, and then providing hot tea and biscuits after our shower. I was hoping this would be a lovely place, and I was not disappointed!. Situated in the heart of Borrowdale, and right on the Coast-to-coast route, this was the perfect spot to find ourselves, wet, cold, muddy and tired after the second day of our walk. We loved Gillercombe, Rachel is such an interesting lady, and the house is spotless. She has walked the Coast to Coast, and knows exactly what walkers need to make their stay perfect. Great breakfast, and huge packed lunch provided.
