After spending a horrendous night in a Travelodge in Birmingham, I was relieved to find the room at Blackpool South Shore perfectly acceptable. There is no way you could describe it as anything other than functional, but it was clean and comfortable enough to sleep there prior to our day on the Pleasure Beach. Breakfast was fine.

Blackpool is cracking family fun, a hoot of a place that is underappreciated by too many Britons in my experience.
