How nice to find a good basic hotel that doesn't pretend to be something it's not . Bedrooms are clean and comfortable and reasonable sized. Public rooms and bar area are larger than most of this type. Breafasts are of excellent quality- crusty rolls and fresh bread every day. The staff is friendy. and attentive. Location is excellent-within walking distance... More

Conveniently located, comfortable, clean, quiet. I know London well, and this is the best place I've yet found to stay in. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station (perfect for airport arrivals and departures) and 5 minutes from Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park. Breakfasts are good, and if you ask for a quiet room away from the street, they'll oblige... More

The hotel was modest and probably will not chose it again. The strengths include the location, cleanliness, value, and the simple but nice breakfast. On the negative side, the noise inside and outside the hotel. We were on the first floor and when someone walked in the street I thought was in the room and inside the drywall and many... More

First impressions were not positive-we thought we were in the YMCA which is actually next door .Reception area was bare and unwelcoming.Roon was very basic with old windows in poor condition that rattled all night in the wind. When we complained the receptionist did offer the opportunity to change rooms but advised they were all the same-at least she was... More

Found this hotel on Google search, it was a very cheap deal but booked it anyway not being sure what to expect. Was very impressed with the hotel, rooms basic but clean and tidy, the whole hotel was very clean and well maintained, the staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was very good. Great location for shopping and... More

On a visit to London in November 2011, it was suggested that I stay at the Lancaster Hall/German YMCA,by friends who had stay prior. I do not think I will ever stay agian. They had some of the rudest front desk staff, I have ever come across, to make a simple request was very difficult. It also seemed like they... More

Not sure what this guest's problem was, but our other reviews speak for themselves! Sometimes it is the attitude of the guest that causes the initial problem. More

We have stayed at Lancaster Hall on three separate occasions, most recently October 2011, and will stay there again on our next visit to London. This hotel is all positives and no negatives worth recording. Here are some of the positives. A reasonable tariff. Very polite and helpful staff especially for online booking and at check in. A perfectly adequate... More

Staff were polite and helpful but we felt as though we were staying in a youth hostel. Other guests were inconsiderate at night time, coming home late and making a lot of noise each night we were there. Breakfast is very basic with slender offerings for people with food allergies/intolerances. Take your own tea bags.
