it's my first internet rating at all. but this is the time to start. the first impression was quite ok, but then some things came together which made it a not so pleasant stay. very loud marilyn manson music at the breakfast, a not working key system, unclean carpet floors, incompetent staff members, the tinnest shower rooms which gave you... My boyfriend booked a twin-private room for us to stay one night while visiting London. Unfortunately whilst out seeing the sights my wallet was stolen. When it came to checking in late that evening, the staff almost wouldn't let me stay because I didn't have ID! This is despite the booking being made in BFs name, and he had ID.... More

This was the first of many hostels that we stayed in while in the UK. It was a great introduction to backpacking and set the standard for many to come. It was in a great location, in a good area, a quick tube trip into the main city, but surrounded by gorgeous parks and amazing little streets. Close to a... More

Overall, I thought this was a perfectly fine place to stay. I don't expect much from hostels--I just want to sleep and get out. The beds were fine. There was a bathroom inside the room and the toilet was disgusting and there was some mold in the bathroom as well. In the basement bathroom the hostel owners keep things people... More

Great location. Friendly folks. Opportunity to work there to earn your keep. Dorm-style rooms (don't gripe about that, or you ought to stay in a hotel). Fair to crappy breakfast--bread and jam in a dumpy common eating area with a tv. But heckuva deal and the noise is tolerable, especially if you're willing to go to the top floor.

the astor near bayswater station is my number one destination. it is so friendly and communal. i been in a few rooms during my 6 visits over 8 years. astor surely is the cleanest and nicest place to stay in the centre. and from 15,50 in the week amazingly affordable. i also love the new kitchen. loads of space for... Bed bugs beware! We went to Astor after a long day to find bed bugs in our...well bed. Also the room was a mess and the reception was short and seemed bothered by us.

We stayed in this hostel for two nights. It was good in general. Staffs are very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is fine as a good deal in such a big city. All rooms are fairly clean as I expected including toilets and shower rooms. Only minor problems are people who stayed in there not quite respect to others, we... More
