Me and my family spent a weekend at the Esplanade Hotel Whitby, and although it's not the plushest hotel in Whitby, they sure made up for it with their hospitality. The staff we second to none, always attentive and polite... Not perfect, but definitely worth it!

Had to pay £85 / night for a family room even tho there were just the 2 of us and double rooms WERE AVAILABLE. The superfluous bunkbeds made the room extremely cramped. But there again they gave the necessary room to open the suitcase! No bedside tables, plastic 'glasses' and no parking (had to park 2 streets away). Internet pictures...
