We were disappointed to find that this is really a hotel versus a B&B - there are 13 rooms and not what we expected. We only met the owner once and never met his wife. The room was OK but the bed was very hard. There were problems with internet reception in our room and then it stopped working altogether... More

We have now stayed at Ascot House a few times and enjoy returning to it. The rooms are beautiful; decorated and furnished to an exceptional high standard. Staff are very friendly and are anxious to please. We look forward to our next visit.

We found Ascot House to be an exceptionally well-run establishment. Starting with the location, it is easy to find, in a pleasant, quiet residential area of York and only a 15-20 minute walk to the City Walls. Despite only a one night stay, this hotel easily outshines all others we have experienced in York. A beautiful period and appropriately furnished property, spotlessly clean, with well appointed rooms, free off-road parking and an award-winning generous breakfast to cap it off - fantastic value - well done Mr. & Mrs. Wood, you will definitely see us again. 100% recommended.

We had an excellent stay, the rooms were just refurbished, clean, bright and very comfy. The breakfast is wonderful, a good selection and cooked breakfast locally sourced, the sausages are especially good. Made to feel really welcome and a very reasonable price, recommend and would stay here again.
