Accommodation was quaint and very English! The room was on the smaller side but had all you needed. The shower was terrible but got the job done. Located within walking distance of the hop on hop off bus stop and town buses and we were able to leave the car in the hotel car park during the day without charge... More

Pleasent hotel with secure parking. Very friendly staff, excellent location, stayed for two nights and would stay again. Only down side was the mattress very firm and occasionally could hear noise from air conditioning unit for the cellar. Room was very warm and sleeping with the window open, could hear road but nothing a few drinks in the attached bar... More

Excellent location, only 5-10 minutes walk from city centre. And after a long day browsing the shops and visiting the museums you can return to the comfort of the pub, for a drink or two and a meal. Great food, good service from helpful staff. Rooms are not huge but have all the things that you need. Only downside is... More

We stayed here as it offered one night bookings and was close to York centre. We couldn’t have been happier, the room was small (what do you expect for £65) but was clean and tidy and perfectly fine for our needs. We were attending a wedding so didn’t need to spend too long in the room, if you are staying... More

The pub is an old style pub clearly popular with the locals with a great atmosphere. T/he rooms were clean and a good size with usual tea coffee and hot choc. The food was really nice (Lamb shank mmmmm) Stayed here for a few night while working away and was a really nice place to go back to after a... More

I have to agree with another reviewer who complains of being ignored and kept waiting. Myself and my Mother (aged 80) visited the pub at 6pm on Sun 11th Sept, we had tickets for a performance at the nearby Barbican theatre commencing 7.30pm. The pub was not busy and we ordered a Sunday roast and a Pie dish (both of... More
