Stayed at The Lion in Shrewsbury last weekend, Good Location and FREE Parking. Eight of us so 4 x Double Rooms. Our rooms were all along the same corridor, similar size, comfy beds and all just fine. Finding the rooms is a bit of a task as this is such an old building, with choice of staircases / corridors that... More

stayed at this hotel with friends for two nights. we had 2 rooms next door to each other on the 3rd floor and felt really sorry for anyone in the bedroom below us as everytime you walked across the room the floorboards creaked just so loudly but hey this hotel is old and the floorboards are entitled to groan a... Stayed here for one night on Saturday 21st April 2012. All I can say is what an unbelievable noise We were booked in Room 312 and I have to say its the worst night stay I have ever experienced in a hotel. Firstly, the noise the lift makes is unbelievable. I noticed a sign on the lift stating that it... More

Stayed here for one night. The hotel is a little old fashioned but perfectly good for the area and the costs. Well situated in the town, but arrive early to make sure of a car parking space. My room was adequate. Bed very comfy, but with it being a very old building you can hear people walking in room above... More

We found the staff to be quite friendly and helpful. Our room was fine but being an old hotel the floors creaked a bit! The bathroom was also fine but the shower could have been a bit better. There was plenty on offer for breakfast and the full English was adequate. We liked the ambience of the place with its... More

This was our third visit to the Lion Hotel. We have only ever stayed one night en route from south Wales to The Lakes. On both previous occasions we hadn't booked and were quite satisfied with the general 'feel' of the place and our rooms. The hotel is very handy on the edge of the city with good parking facilities... More

The Reception at this hotel was particularly efficient and arranged, at short notice, precisely the sort of room we needed. The hotel is very old although this does not detract in any way the level of service and facilities offered to the modern traveller. Our room was reasonaly sized and well furnished with a good bathroom - the room was... More

Went for Sunday Lunch on the 25 March with my wife, the staff were attentive and nothing to much trouble, we were ushered in to a beautiful Restaurant which was in keeping with this very old hotel. The meal silver service we couldn't fault it they have a good Chef. If you are in Shrewsbury give it a try, we... More

My husband and I stayed here in June 2011 as we had tickets to a local concert. I needed a hotel with parking in Shrewsbury town centre and The Lion seemed perfect. I am from Shropshire and have always been aware of The Lions great reputation so I was really looking forward to staying here. I was so disappointed I... More

Avoid room 305 at all costs, the room is obviously directly below the water pipes to the rooms and so we had a dreadful noisy night, in an extreamly small uncomfortable bed which creaked every time you moved. The bath was so small you couldn't turn round and the shower just dribbled a few drops at water at you. all... More
