Beautiful views of the river from every room and a top notch check in and check out experience. The furniture in the rooms is very dated and worn, so was the carpet; the TV was a smallish tube TV. The bathtub tiles had mildew / mold on them along with the ceiling. The towel rack had some rust on it... More

We booked a double room via late rooms, ? 57 quid, as we were going to a concert at the Sage and didn't fancy driving 30 miles home!!!! Anyhow, we got there early, check in was supposed to be 2pm onwards. Not a problem, straight up to our room 121. New carpets, lovely king sized bed, powerful hot shower, large... More

I have complaints about this hotel. Normally, I would try to talk to management first before airing it on TripAdvisor, but not a single phone was answered during my stay. I tried Reception, Housekeeping, Switchboard. Not a single call was answered. What did I experience? 1. No television reception. All channels were unavailable according to the message on the TV... Ideal location for the Metro Radio Arena, the city centre and railway station. Good view of the Tyne and it's bridges. We stayed on a B & B basis, with a full english and continental available. Staff were pleasant. The room was well presented and comfortable. Gives the impression of being a buisiness hotel although private guests are just as... More

We used The Copthorne for our Daughter and Son in Law's wedding reception on 5th May 2012. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service we received was second to none. The staff went beyond the norm to make sure our day was special. Several of us stayed overnight and had a fabulous breakfast the next morning. The wedding organiser... More

We stayed here for one night, thankfully no more. We had a club room which was very tired lots of wood that was crying out for varnish. Needs a total refurb. The bed however was comfortable and the view overlooking the Tyne saved the day. Dinner was nice in the restaurant, but breakfast was very disappointing. The service poor, buffet... More

Thank you for your review, in which I was sorry to learn of your disappointment with your stay. The lifts are currently being organised for a full systems upgrade, and I am sorry that you were inconvenienced during the brief (and unprecedented) period when they were both out of action. The hotel itself is also being organised for refurbishment throughout.... More

Thank you for your comments. Your stay with us has clearly been a somewhat mixed one. Your constructive feedback has been fully reviewed with my team.
