We booked two rooms here in April on the special Sunday deal. To qualify for the hugely discounted rate, you need to spend at least £100 per couple on food and drink on Sunday evening, but because we had tickets for that night at the Metro arena, we were allowed to offset this amount against Sunday lunch instead. We were... More

We stayed for a birthday celebration in the Vistjafjord suite on the Chateau floor. Beautiful room with comfortable large bed, separate lounge area and a large bathroom with separate bath and shower. The view is not too great in this room, looking down towards the Ouseburn area instead of to the Millenium bridge but that was the only downside. Restaurant... More

The lobby of the Malmaison is so fashionably dark and it's a little unnerving walking in from a bright day. It's a strange and almost claustrophobic contrast from the open space and water of the River Tyne directly outside and I must say it's not to my taste. Stopped here for a two night work stay in late May. Service... More

Stayed here with my wife for two nights mid June. We took a standard room with Millennium bridge view and a Queen bed, we were on the fourth floor. Room was great, clean and excellent view. On the Friday night we booked the date night which included a 3 course meal and champagne, food was excellent as were the drinks... More

We stayed for just one night on 1 December 2012 having used Malmaison before. We like their different take on style. The suite was good as expected with fine views over the River Tyne but could have been much cleaner. Service in the restaurant at breakfast was good but at reception it was really poor. You don't mind things not... More

Lovely hotel, it is in a lovely location. It's great for a couples escape. The food was fantastic drinks a very expensive but than that it is a great hotel. Rooms are spacious comfortable. The staff were very friendly professional and made you feel welcome. I would recommend this for a couples weekend away.

First time that we have stayed here - won't be the last. Excellent experience overall, capped by a superb breakfast. Classy and modern and very different to ordinary run of the mill hotels. #Impressed.com

Stayed here with work. Nice place. Drinks in bar VERY expensive. No complaints otherwise. The only thing I would say is that if I were paying out of my own pocket, I'd feel a bit shortchanged. Considering the price, its not much better than Ibis et al. Lets face it, if you're visiting Newcastle you aren't going to sit in... More

Just like a previous reviewer we paid for an upgrade for a larger room, well worth the £20. Our room window was right opposite the Baltic and Sage across the Tyne. The cocktail bar in the hotel is a bit pricey but the cocktails are very good. You get a good choice for breakfast but the cooked breakfast could be... More
