I was a little apprehensive about staying here after seeing some of the reviews, but wanted to try it because of the great location. What a pleasant surprise! The staff were lovely and friendly, my room was big for a single, and had lots of drawer/wardrobe space. The lift wasn't working, but the trip up and down two flights of... More

Hotel location great, but extensive works outside prevent any easy access from New Street station. Will be very convenient when finished. Rooms clean and comfortable and breakfast excellent. A major problem was the lift being out of order especially as one member of my party was on crutches. Having to struggle up to the 2nd floor was really difficult. Apart... More

Stayed last year on a theatre trip, booked again for last weekend. How disappointing this time round. Small dingy rooms on 4th floor, no lift or help with luggage. Very tired decor, rooms very tired and worn. Very very noisy, someone on metal fire escape in small hours of the night, followed by drunken revellers falling upstairs at 4am. Breakfast... More

I have just returned from a one night trip to Birmingham to meet up with my four friends that I attended teacher training college with innumerable years ago. I had read the other reviews and was prepared for the worst. The biggest downfall was the lack of a lift in working order, as one of our party has walking difficulties,... More

Basil and Sybil's Faulty Towers has nothing on this place! To be honest the sad looking Eeyore forced to wear the pink cowboy hat on reception should have been an early sign to turn around and leave immediately. But no we gave the place the benefit of doubt given its central location and fairly reasonable price and ability to accommodate... More

To start with the positives - the hotel was in a good position for access to the station and the city centre. It was reasonably easy to find and they provided car park passes so that parking cost £4.40 instead of £19.00. Apart from the above i have to say I have never stayed in such a run down, depressing... I stay in confront inn for one night becauce it is close to the station. the lift was broken down which force me to walk 3 floors. Place smell like a old and damp carpet. Room relative clean but it really need some work! I won't advice u to stay unless u can't find anywhere else.

The hotel was in a great location, just a 5/10 minute walk from the train station. However this excellent location comes at a noisy price being opposite the train station and a building site so not one for light sleepers. It didn't particularly bother anyone in my party though. The area itself was a bit dodgy so I probably wouldn't... More

I chose that hotel as it was closed from New Street Station. The location is indeed perfect, but that hotel should be fully refurbished. Antique lift that takes for ages, room of 8 sq. meters, bathroom basic bu ok, matress really below standard (you can feel the coils!). at 100 meters you have a brand new Ibis hotel for only... More
