Frankly pretentious restaurant that can't deliver. Pretends to be high dining but every dish was below part. Lobster for £17 was dry, chewy, small portion and clearly reheated. Accompanying potatoes were also reheated, but still undercooked and included one black inedible one. Cockles portion was tiny, accompanying bread more like a dry scone, tarte tatin was laughably bad with soggy... More

We recently had a new catalogue launch/press conference at the Kings Arms. As well as the event in the day, we booked all 11 rooms to accomodate our guests and had a dinner for 34 people in the evening. All I can say is that everything was absolutely superb, from the lunch, to the amazing home made brownies and bara... More

Used for a family trip to the Big Pit (which is also excellent), we booked 3 rooms, all were very clean and nice, well equipped and I agree on shower comments ! Staff were very attentive and helpful and they made you feel welcome. We ate in the restaurant and the food and service was very good, same for breakfast... More

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend and his parents! We were all impressed with the new doctor and new menu after recently re-opening under new management. We didn't order starters but all ordered coffee's which were served and made well! We ordered fish and chips times 4 so the chef must have been chuffed with such an easy order!... More

We were four girls on a road trip to wales and booked this B&B in Abergavenny. First, the owners were really accommodating and attentive, helping us with suggestions and catering to our needs. The room was very clean, stylish, well equipped, and the shower had great pressure, which is always a bonus. The location is great since it's right by... More

We have just returned from a fantastic , last minute stay at the King's Arms. The restoration is very sympathetic - a great combination of historical features with modern conveniences - we had the family room - perfect for us and 2 little boys and were given a lovely welcome. The atmosphere in the evening was great and we were... More

A real gem of a place in the centre of Abergavenny. We parked in the nearby car park near to the lovely Linda Vista gardens...where we enjoyed a stroll around after our meal...and a walk over to the castle ruins nearby.Glad we booked for lunch today as when we arrived the place was really busy and had a real buzz... Thank you for the review and hope your next visit is as good as your first. Our Bank Holiday weekend was our first real full service weekend for us, and with such fantastic weather, proved to be much more popular than we could have hoped, we are therefore sincerely thankful for such a great review. Our menu changes almost daily,... More

We called in here Sunday for lunch and was very impressed. We have passed this hostelry many times and this was our first venture inside. Very welcoming hosts and the food was excellent. Building dates back to the 1600's. Will definitely go again and we do not hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed here for one night as overspill from the Angel, where we were hosting a conference. Very comfortable and quirky hotel, modern bathroom and facilities but traditional build, so lots of sloping floors! Excellent friendly and welcoming staff who were extremely accommodating to our needs. Only had breakfast there so can't really judge the food but my poached egg was... More

We really enjoyed the ambiance of the 1600's with every amenity of the 2000's. We were in a beautifully decorated, large room with en suite bath. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. We would have preferred some simpler dinner menu choices. The innkeeper and staff were very attentive. Because of the convenient in-town location and the age of... More
