Reserved the day before by phone....very helpful and talked us in the last half mile to a late evening check in. My partner was working a night shift so my teenage son and I shared the very comfortable twin room at the rear of the beautifully restored and presented property. Stunning period features complimented by stylish and sympathetic furnishings and... More

We had booked to stay here while our daughter did her DofE Hike but this was cancelled due to the very cold weather. However we decided to go ahead with our visit and are very glad we did. The house is very welcoming, as is Helen. We stayed in Einon with the beds converted into a King size double and... More

Very smart house, full of character and well restored. Good location in the town centre and close to the river Usk but not noisy or overlooked. Easy distance to local pubs and restaurants (the Italian (Robertos) was excellent btw and some lovely walks within a 20/30 minute drive. Good breakfast too.

For our first ever foray into Wales we were expecting snakes and witches. We were very wrong. Cantre Selyf is an amazing, quirky, enormous, treasure-filled, town-centre merchant's house, a short walk from the rushing River Usk with its Old Mill House nestling beneath the castle walls. The owners of the B&B were welcoming and obliging, the breakfast was excellent and... More

Stayed at this lovingly restored 17th century house. The hostess, Helen, immediately made us welcome by making us a cup of tea, which we had in the garden while waiting for the other members of our group to arrive. Helen explained how her husband & she renovated the building including building a separate cottage at the end of the garden.... More

We recently had the pleasure of staying here and it was great. Lovely room and facilities, good choice for breakfast. Located right in town centre but quiet nevertheless, even though we stayed at the time of the Brecon Jazz Festival.

We recently stayed at Cantre Selyf for two nights and although the house is lovely, the hosts quite welcoming, the bed linens fine and the breakfast adequate, the room overlooking the garden could definitely use some TLC. There is a lack of hanging space anywhere (except for an old dark wardrobe) especially in the bathroom. There isn't a place to... More

So sorry you were disappointed with your stay at Cantre Selyf. Owning a large rambling 17th century property has many charms and challenges with three feet walls and plenty of nooks and crannies where WIFI can get lost. I seem to remember you commenting on having difficulties with your lap top thoughout your trip around Wales and I offered my... More

Right in the middle of town, but located in a rear lane. So only short walk to amenities etc. Nice breakfast and room, room to park off road. But owner could do a little more to make you feel welcome? Not exactly an enthusiastic welcome, a little distant I felt. Thought it was just me, but girlfriend said the same.... More

Really felt part of Brecon's history in this large old house right in the centre. Plenty of space set aside for guests downstairs, and all decorated in character with the house but with excellent modern (if compact!) shower room in my room. Shame we weren't there long enough to use the living room - would be happy to go back,... More

Stayed here on Saturday night with my husband and his parents. The house is beautifully furnished and the rooms we stayed in were very impressive - wonderful iron bed steads and lovely touches throughout.
