A wonderful quaint guest house. They have made good use of an old house keeping many of its original features. The landlady and staff are friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were clean and beds really comfortable. Would stay again.

We stayed here on a Monday night in mid March. We stayed in room 2 which faces the main road but there was little noise from the traffic - might be different in the summer with the window open. The room was large with a modern TV and en suite bathroom. Furnishings in keeping with the age of the property.... More

We spent 2 nights here in March and had a great stay. The host and other staffn were friendly, helpful and welcoming with plenty of local knowledge to share. Our room itself was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a good size with very good water pressure. The location itself was ideal and just a few minutes walk to the... More

Its such a shame that this Guest House, due to its excellent location, with a little more effort, could be so much more. The facilities were tired and worn. We literally only needed the room to sleep and shower and stay in and not stay in the room for too long which was quite lucky really. With Sellotape holding the... More

Bed was sagging and mattress thin. Sole chair in this tiny room had badly stained cushion. Overall, the room was uninviting with barely enough room to put one's suitcase down. Breakfast offered the cheapest bread for toasting, watered juice, tinned fruit although one could choose the hot food menu. The more expensive items listed on menu were not available. Best... More

We stayed here in room 14 (splendid family room) as a family of 4 and we cannot of asked for more. We arrived pretty early and parked in the private car park and went in to notify the reception that we had done so with no expectations of being allowed in our room.... but we were welcomed and directed to... We recently spent a weekend in Brecon to hike and visit, and this modest B&B fit the bill as we just wanted a place to sleep at night. The location is ideal to get to hiking trails and near the centre of town. The room with en suite was clean and perfectly adequate. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious.... More

Spend your time and money at a better place. The room was tattered looking. Bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast was average. Most striking was the unfriendly owner. She needs to work in a different business, one that does not require warmth and hospitality.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the 17th Century barns and cottages still remain. The front part of the building was added in the early 1700's and the house has changed little - apart from modern comforts and decor. The original spiral staircase, moulded ceilings and even the meat cellar (now a cosy bar) all add to the character and atmosphere of this lovely home. ... more   less
