We stayed for two nights. The furnishings described on this site in so many superlatives were rather over-the-top for me. They have gone for a look of opulence which works to a point, but the room are a bit poky and the amount of knick-knacks on the few surfaces provide little room for one personal possessions. We stayed here recently and found high cliff to be very good overall. Close to town in a quiet location, with parking on site. Our room was nice but compact, however had a large en suite. Breakfast each day was excellent varied choice and freshly cooked. Owners friendly and gave good advice about eating out,trips etc. Overall would give 4.5.

We stayed at High Cliff a couple of years ago and when we needed accommodation in Oban again there was only one place to go. The rooms are immaculate and beautifully furnished to a high standard and the breakfast is still the best we've had in any place we have stayed including the "best" hotels. Enjoyed a fantastic stay at the High Cliff where the atmosphere was warm and friendly. My room was extremely well appointed ( as is the entire guest house, especially the handsome dining room where a enjoyed a fabulous Scottish breakfast). A great stay, thanks Maureen & Mike.

Beautifully appointed rooms in an excellent location. Maureen and Mike are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing. If you're looking for luxurious place to stay in Oban then I'd thoroughly recommend the High Cliff.
