I regularly stay away in hotel and b&b's for pleasure but this time was a 2 night impromptu visit as a our dad had took ill on a bank holiday and was taken into dumfries hospital. Edenbank is a close walk to dumfries town centre which is handy if you don't drive like us. We stayed in the Moreig for... More

First off, there's a lot to like about the Edenbank, as a bit of an architecture nut, I love the building itself with loads of original features, it's quiet and close to the town centre, (I'd rather walk than mess about parking etc, We stayed as a result of a last minute decision to see the Ice Skating event so... We moved out of the first room as it was too small, too hot and the smoke detector was open with battery missing. Second room was bigger but we had to get the radiator turned off with a wrench and the valve was wrapped with tissue paper so it probably leaked. We took our personal effects with us when we... More

The hotel was fairly clean, however it is very tired. The window in my room did not close properly & the breakfast was limited & a very small portion.

As I use this site regularly when I am planning a break. I feel I should help other like-minded people by giving a more up-to-date picture of this hotel. We booked in here because our 'usual' choice of hotel was full. The place is shabby, although I will admit that the room itself was quite presentable, that is, apart from... More

We had to change hotel from the Aberdour, as it was in a disgraceful state, to the Edenbank Hotel and there was no comparison. The hotel was bright and unlike the other place, was very clean. The atmosphere was friendly and the hotel was quiet (on the days while we were there) at night, no noise coming from the bar... More

Had to find hotel room at last minute after getting stranded - Great location to walk into town, rooms clean and tidy and large. Good Service and did an early cooked breakfast to allow us to get away early the following day. Might be an old fashioned building but otherwise spot on with great service - who needs trendy!

This hotel is decorated in old fashioned style but apart from that it is OK. The rooms are dated and so is the equipment. No high tech showers here! Its expensive for the quality of the room. Having said that it is clean, the staff are frendly and the breakfasts will keep you going all day! So to sum it... More

We came across this hotel on passing through Dumfries on our way to Edinburgh and having stayed in a couple of the larger hotels previously, were glad to come across this well kept secret! The owners and staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food was excellent too, I... More
