The hotel is located at the west end of Princess Street and is very convenient for getting around the city centre. It is close to the main shops and good restaurants in the city centre, and does a very good cooked breakfast buffet. Unfortunately it was being refurbished while we stayed. The front entrance has temporary flooring, the lifts were... More

Okay, when I arrived I was not exactly wearing an Armani Suit, but the welcome from the hotel staff was way more shabby than my blue jeans and polo shirt...! It rained cats and dogs when I parked directoy in front of the main entrance, and I was hoping for some help with the luggage or a valet service for... More

Only went to the hotel for coffee in afternoon, welcoming reception staff showed us to restaurant. We ordered hot choc and latte, waitress was not friendly, no smile or chat . Both drinks arrived and were lukewarm, not hot at all. Hotel looked dated. Not modern or friendly. Would not recommend for drinks.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the opportunity to post a review following your visit to our lounge area. I am disappointed to read that you were not entirely satisfied with the friendliness received from one of our team members, and I must admit that this is certainly not a common complaint to hear. I shall however follow up with... More

Hotel is under renovations but still very nice. All staff were very nice! Beds are a bit hard even in upgraded room with view of castle. Great location for shopping on Princes St but a small hike to Royal Mile.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel as a gift from our son. The room was nice but view fom windows not good. Meals were good but not as good as elsewhere we have been to in Edinburgh. Try the Glenmorangie in your porridge to give you a boost in morning. Drink expensive but did not care as... More

I use the Caledonian Hotel lounge regularly as a second office; so much more convivial for quiet discussions with clients than a clinical conference room. It is true that they are towards the end of a major refit but they continually re-arrange things to lessen the impact. The staff are an absolute credit to the hotel as really nothing is... More

Our second stay at this hotel. It is very comfortable, high quality and well located. The refurb is only a little disturbing - there was no noise during our stay, just some wet paint signs and a temporary reception desk. The newly refurbished room was spacious, modern and comfortable though the view from 309 was very poor so we didnt... More

Booked this hotel for my loved ones 40th birthday and cannot praise it enough. We stayed in the Cuthbert Suite which was large and beautifully decorated with a great view of the castle. The hotel had kindly presented two bottles of wine and a box of chocolates as a complimentary birthday gift, which was very much appreciated. Whilst the hotel... More

We stayed at this hotel when it was experiencing considerable remodeling prior to its induction into Hilton’s Waldorf-Astoria brand of hotels. The Caledonian is a beautiful property, with all the quirks of a very old hotel (interior hallways with windows that open into the principal hallways, etc). The room was large, as were the beds. The bathroom was also large,... More

Have some bias toward Hilton because of hotel club membership. Stayed here for a week on vacation. Road construction and hotel renovations a bit inconvenient, but good quality rooms (old building, nice high ceilings) with good amenities. Breakfast (buffet bought with the room) was OK, though no day to day variety. Staff very accommodating -- we rented a car for... More
