We stayed for one night in the Abercromby suite. Large comfortable 4 poster bed and plenty of space to lounge around in. Service was efficient and very personable. We do like early morning coffee before surfacing for breakfast and I was initially a little disappointed that there was no coffee/tea making facilities in room. We phoned down for morning coffee... We decided to have one night after our wedding and I decided upon The Howard. It's superb. Fussed over from the moment we arrived! Valet parked, cases brought to the room after we had been shown the room. Tea or coffee at the end of the phone 24/7! We stayed in the Charlotte room and it was gorgeous, my wife... More

I booked The Howard several months ago as a birthday treat for my wife - a weekend of luxury in Edinburgh was promised with our very own butler to take care of the unpacking and even the ironing! We arrived late afternoon and the staff were really welcoming. I was a little worried as I had left the car on... More

This is one of those mysteries.....not the Scottish ghost or haunted type, but how are you a 5 star type? Starting with the positive, the rooms were quite spacious by European standards. The negative, I understand that this hotel has recently changed hands, and where it may have been lovely to stay at once, it is not now.  Add to... More

We spent 3 nights at The Howard and had a lovely experience there. The hotel is a charming boutique. The room was very spacious, the bathroom was as well, it was all that we expected. We ate at the restaurant one of the nights and the food was excellent. Staff very helpful and most of all we enjoyed the butler... More

Another super review and once again I am thrilled to hear such high praise of our Butler Team -I have passed the kind words along to Andrew, Head Butler who was equally delighted. Looking forward to welcoming this guest to The Howard again soon... Leon Kiteley General Manager More

My wife and I spent two nights at The Howard, dining in their Atholl restaurant both nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The old style bedroom was large and comfortable and had a huge bathroom and a walk-in closet. The butler service was excellent and we found the food fantastic in quality and really good value when bought as... More

This hotel does not deserve a 5 star at all. Very pricey therefore you would expect excellence in all domains. The breakfast was good. Decor is tired. Bathroom very nice but lacking in practical details. You would expect a replacement of complimentary shower gel etc, however for 3 nights only had one sample of each, rather mean. Would have loved... I am really sorry to hear that this guest was not bowled over by The Howard like the majority of our guests and would urge all our patrons to contact us at the time if there is any detail, no matter how small, that is not quite right - we will rectify it there and then. You will see from... More

We stayed in the Fettes room at £140 B&B for one night (I'm glad it was only one night!) The decor was dated and there was a clear lack of attention to detail in the rooms (cheap furniture, chipped picture frames and flaking wallpaper). We also had to stand at the checkin/check out whilst the staff sat down. The staff... More

Situated in a row of classic Georgian townhouses in New Town, this hotel was extremely welcoming and comfortable. I can recommend the kitchen for dinner. My room was a good size with a magnificent bathroom which had the largest footed tub I've ever had the pleasure to soak in. A separate closet-room, which helped me keep my mess (of shopping,... More
