Great location in Grassmarket area - short walk to bars/pubs, and to Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Staff was excellent - very helpful, arranging taxis and keeping bags for us when we arrived early, then texting us when room became available! Good value for the price. Mattress however, was cheap and uncomfortable - we could feel the springs in our... More

My wife and I went to Edinburgh for a short get away. A couple of weeks prior to our trip I e-mailed the hotel requesting a castle view room. On arrival we were offered our requested room but would have to wait a couple of hours. This was acceptable because we were early. They offered to keep our luggage while... More

Comfortable rooms and good bathrooms. With window shut rooms at back were quiet at night, although view onto wasteland. Delegates had rooms at front and suffered from noise problems during the night. The hotel is right on the student strip, opposite all the bars and round the corner from student night clubs, convenient but not very quiet. No views as... More

This has taken a while to post (30th October 2011). This hotel was excellent, checkin quick and friendly without being imposing. Clear directions to our room (it is a little like a rabbit warren inside). Room typical of a city centre, however the room was clean and tidy with no issues. We booked over the internet and had a free... More

I had a very pleasant stay at Apex City Hotel. The room was convenient. spacious, clean, modern decor, and quiet. This hotel is the perfect base to explore the major attractions in Edinburgh especially The Edinburgh Castle. The Whisky Experience, and the Royal Mile. The supermarket Sainsbury local is 5 mins walk from hotel.

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Apex City Hotel for two nights in May 2012. We were only in Edinburgh for a few days, but this was the perfect home base to explore some of the major highlights including the Edinburgh Castle (15 min hike up the hill), Royal Mile, shopping on Princes Street, etc. Staff were friendly and... We left our house at 2.45am to catch a red-eye flight to Edinburgh for the Saturday of Easter weekend. The previous evening we rang the hotel to ask for an early check in but weren't too hopeful because of the Bank Holiday. We spoke to Judith, a member of the reception team who promised she 'would do what she could'.... More

My boyfriend booked a package "romantic break" or sth like that:) we had a room at 4th floor with view toward castle (awesome!!!), bottle of champagne and one romantic dinner included. Friendly and helpful stuff. Nice clean rooms, comfortable big bed. Close to Edinburgh castle, nice breakfast, you can choose between continental and fix-menu breakfast (extra paid, if not included).... More

We found our room to be quite tired, all 4 lamp shades were bashed or ripped, every piece of furniture was scuffed or damaged, the carpet was worn so it had a very grubby feel. It also wasn't very clean, lots of dust and dirt, including the kettle which we didn't use. When I moved the bin in the bathroom... More

Dear Guest I am really disappointed to read such an unusually poor review of the hotel. The room that you stayed in is certainly not typical of the high standard we try to offer our guests, and hopefully you have read the many positive reviews that we receive? My sincere apologies that we appear to have failed you on this... More
