Hotels are generally expensive in Edinburgh. Regent House was one of the cheap places we found so went with it. Some awful reviews had us worried but unnecessarily. We arrived to find we'd been given a family room just for the two of us complete with piano. The staff were pleasant enough. There are a few little details the hotel... More

I stayed here and paid with a credit card I haven't used anywhere else for many months, either before or since. Several weeks later I got a call from my credit card company because someone had been trying to use it fraudulently. Thanks to their vigilance the transactions were stopped. I have to conclude that either someone from the hotel... More

The best thing about this hotel is it's location - an easy 10 min walk to Princes Street. It's also at the cheaper end of things, and so we didn't expect any bells and whistles. The room (on the basement level) was comfortable and spacious enough - bathroom was ensuite and small, but did the job. Breakfast was nothing special... More

I'll be honest, anytime you put your bags down, and a mouse falls from the curtain rail, you know you're onto a loser. when I raised the issue with the owner and his drunk handyman, we were told that there was nothing that could be done as they were full. miraculously when i threatened to take the complaint further they... Just enjoyed a great weekend staying in a clean spaceous family room, which would have slept 5 adult size people with no problem, lots of hot water and excellent shower pressure. Having read some other reviews we nearly didn't book - how wrong they were. We had a lovely room at the front of this marvelous Recency House. Some beautiful features.... More

The triple room which we booked is very small. We can hardly move around. The bathroom was also small and no soap was provided. Breakfast was very basic with bread, eggs and cereals. The stairs (there was no elevator) were very steep, so careful if you have heavy luggage. The only positive thing which I can say is the free... More

No hot water for the duration and if there had been the base of the shared shower was cracked and old. The bed was comfy and the sheets were clean but there were cobwebs on the ceiling. It was impossible to regulate the radiator so in contrast to the water the room became very hot despite my having the window... More

Who EVER heard of a hotel that didn't have "legal" parking so you could off load your bags? In the time it took to check in and lug our suitcases to the third floor (no elevator), we had a GBP 50 parking ticket on our rental car! When I asked the manager, she replied, "oh, yes - they're very strict... More

Just stayed here with 4 other mates for lads weekend. When we arrived we were informed the family room was double booked but we were to be 'upgraded' into the Apartments. We went back out the hotel and in next door to the apartments and downstairs into what looked like a dungeon from outside!! We had nothing to fear though... More

This comfortable guest house provided my teenage daughter and myself with a friendly base from which to enjoy the nearby festival venues. The location is brilliant but quiet which means (coupled with the incredibly comfy beds) a good night's sleep. The staff were helpful and smiley and offered us clean (new) towels each day. We have already recommended it to... More
