Some friends and I went to Edinburgh last week for a long weekend and Straven Guest House was definitely our favorite part of the trip! Edinburgh is a beautiful, clean city with plenty to do and see and Straven was in a perfect location for our site-seeing. We were a short bus ride away from the old town and the... More

Straven Guest House was the perfect place for our stay in Edinburgh! Our room was beautiful, spacious yet cozy and had a wonderful view of the sea. I adore the lounge available to guests on the second floor. Mac is a delight and helped us with planning our adventures in Edinburgh. Breakfast was fantastic! Loved all of the options they... More

Straven Guest House was a really charming, lovingly tended B&B outside of Edinburgh about 15 minutes. Our room had the most lovely view of the Firth of Forth and you are only 1 block off of the beach with a wide esplanade to walk on. Mac and Marian were fantastic, making us feel most welcome. They were also a fountain... More

Mum and I enjoyed a wonderful week on holiday at Straven Guest House while visiting Edinburgh. Mac and Marian were very welcoming and friendly. Great breakfasts and accommodating to dietary requirements if needs be. Rooms were comfortable and clean. It was great to be able to chat about our sightseeing adventures with Mac and Marion, who were genuinely interested and... More

We decided last minute on a trip to Edinburgh by which time availability was limited in the City Centre but fortunately we came across the Straven, a nice, traditional guest house. And in fact, it served our purposes much better but obviously if you want to be on the doorstep of city nightlife, this isn't the place for you. That... More

We were attending a very intense weekend workshop in Edinburgh and Straven was the perfect place to relax and get ready for the next day. The breakfast menu is amazing and the vegetarian haggis is worth trying even if you're a committed carnivore. It's so clean and comfortable and the toiletries are eco and wonderful! The guest house is a good... More

We stumbled upon Straven as we were looking for somewhere to stay for Hogmany and we weren't dissapointed! We stayed in room number one, which was cosy, warm and beautifully decorated. I really enjoyed all the nice little extras such as proper coffee and eco soap! The house is also just metres away from the beach, which was lovely to... More

Hosta are very helpful and will guide to where ever one needs to go. It for free parking one of the best I would say. Even for public transport it... More

We stayed at Straven Guest house for 2 nights in October. Everything at Straven Guest house was first class from the welcome to the room to the breakfast. The guest house is located about 15 - 25 minutes from the train station by bus. We did have a bit of trouble finding the correct bus so we ended up taking... More

I stayed for just one night and was given Room 3 which is normally a family room. Mac and Marian are lovely hosts, friendly and hospitable. I was really happy with my room which was spotlessly clean, warm and comfy with a sofa, desk etc and a good view of the sea. I went to nearby bistro Espy's for dinner....... More
