Firstly, the location of this place is second to none..situated on canal, next to basin with breathtaking views of the local hills and countryside. secondly this place is aimed at the "middle class". Aimed at couples and families celebrating the likes of engagements, passing exams, anniversaries and birthdays. somewhere to be seen and to tell your friends you've been there.... More

Fantastic setting and surroundings and the menu looks good but the food did not deliver. I ordered the "large" goat's cheese salad with slow cooked tomato and asparagus. Not only was this salad the same size as my friends "small" salad but it was missing the slow cooked tomoatoes and asparagus. Not good when it cost £10+. The waitress did... More

There seems to be something about this particular town (which is lovely) and the level of service from restaurants as we tried this after an unfortunate experience elsewhere. We were met this time by the Restaurant Manager with a big smile from him which was a pleasant change from our other night out in the town but not the brightest... More

I stayed here for one night recently while seeing family. Our room was comfortable & the decor was pretty trendy. View out over boats was lovely & could happily sit & look out all day. Didn't like not being able to access restaurant without walking outside & through car park though - would be pretty miserable in bad weather. on... More

Rooms are good size with all mod cons and wifi is free of charge! For some reason in the UK hotels feel it necessary to charge £10-20 to use Wifi! Restaurant is good With an excellent choice of food and is located on the banks of the river between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Good seating outside when the weather is nice!... More

Stayed 2 nights here in February 2012 with a couple of friends. Staff very welcoming and helpful. You have to go outside of the main building to get to the rooms and this is a bit problematical if the weather is poor, especially as the ground on which you have to walk is at best uneven and done with block... I've dined a few times now at The Boathouse as we've recently moved nearby. The food is fabulous, not had a bad meal there yet. The sweet potato dauphinoise is out of this world! A little on the pricey side, but the lovely setting, attentive service and great food makes it worth it. Breakfast is also pretty great - a... More

After looking at some of the reviews on here I went to this hotel with some intrepidation! However my fears were for nothing!! This hotel was fantastic! The rooms were beautiful, warm, cosy, trendy and the in-room bar prices were very reasonable. Dinner in the hotel in the evening was the same - fantastic! Seafood tempura and a beautiful goats... My girlfirend booked us in for dinner, bed and breakfast before reading any reviews and after having done so we were a bit apprehensive as some some of the comments were less than complimentary. When we arrived we were greeted by the manager who showed us to our room. The room had a view overlooking the marina and was equipped with... More
