I cannot fault this offering. Converted in 2009 - the former RAC Club sits on the south side of a lovely Georgian/Victoroan square. The modernity of the rooms is a terrific contract to the formality and lavishness of the foyer, staircases, bars and dining areas. The spa a super luxuriant addition. A good advert to stay somewhere else. Stayed for our anniversary. Reception was very busy with 14 others waiting to be served, mid afternoon (too few staff). Fantastic location, beautiful building, unbeatable spa.. However, soft & squishy mattress was a big disappointment, very odd lack of towel rails in the very fancy bathroom, and the ultra sombre decoration made for a very dark room. My mom and I spent two nights here. We found the service to be outstanding. The hotel is beautiful. The breakfasts are really delicious -- lots of options. You should definitely take your bathing suit, so that you can enjoy the complimentary spa to the fullest. The location is good - you can walk into the city center very easily.... More
