The hotel is next to the train station which is centrally located near the main shopping area The rooms are fine but the shower we had was super small and tight and we are not big people The breakfast was only fair but a beautiful old building I would stay again if the shower in another room is larger

We stayed here for a week & had a comfortable twin room on the first floor at the back. The room was spotlessly clean & very well serviced - biscuits, sweets, bottled water, tea & coffee topped up daily. Only one chair on the room, & not really space for another. Wi-fi access only available in the reception area &... More

I was touring Scotland with my husband and our tour group was booked to stay at The Royal Highland. The entrance hall and main staircase are spectacular, but the experience deteriorates after that. Our room was dark and shabby and overlooked one of the platforms of Inverness Station - an ideal situation for avid train spotters who do not like... More

The hotel is of course ideally situated for the station, and for the exploration of Inverness. In the age of expensive petrol, busy motorways, parking, general stress etc I look at these Victorian wonders and think how wonderful they are. The key to any train trip is obviously the trains but a good hotel in a fantastic position is a... More

Again replacing a review from December which has gone. Wife brought me up to stay for two nights for my birthday in early December. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Unfortunately we dined in the restaurant on the second night. The food was ok but service was very poor. The waitress brought a bottle of wine different from... More

We planned to have a nice romantic break in this lovely looking traditional hotel, i was utterly disappointed! The hotel itself was very traditional exactly as described. Breakfast in the morning was cold and it wasnt because we were late up because we we're one of the first down for breakfast... I am not usually one to complain about anything... More

Had a 2 night break here with my husband, brilliant location as we stepped off the train from Aberdeen to hotel! Staff very helpful and let us store our luggage safely as we arrived before check in. I loved the decor, very in keeping from the period it was buit but well kept, some function rooms were being refurbished at... More

We came to Inverness by train, so the Royal Highland was extremely convenient, located as it is right outside the train station. It's an old hotel, but we rather prefer that to the sterile modern chains. Rooms and bathrooms are small, but quite comfortable, with lots of amenities. The attached restaurant was not thrilling. I believe the usual cafe was... More

We stayed here again on our trip and had a good stay. The only thing was one of the rooms we had was on the side of the hotel and overlooked the shopping centre and either the hotel's fan or another buildings fan was going and it is disturb the nights sleep at first. The lift is very small and... More

Just returned from a lovely 2 night break at this really friendly hotel. I had messaged ahead to ask if we could leave our luggage at the hotel because we were ariving on an early train. This was no problem and staff even got our room ready for 12 instead of 2.30pm. We even received a complimentary tray if fruit... More
