Rooms run down, stained and worn carpeting, mildew in the bathroom. Peeling wallpaper in the bar. The property has a lot of unrealized possibilty and is located in Tain, 45 minutes from Inverness. Over all, an underwhelming experience.

The hotel and its decor is run down and in need of renovation.
The staff are clue less and view guests as an inconvenience.E.G. being brougt your side salad after finishing your meal. Returning a bad pint of beer and being offered a replacement only for you to find you have been charged for it anyway!

I had stayed at the Mansfield many years ago and had very fond memories of a lovely stay. So, on a recent holiday to Scotland, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and book into the Mansfield. We were left a bit disappointed - the hotel needs a bit of tlc. The room we stayed in was an...

this is a hotel for people who like to golf and see, enjoy nature.
We rent the 2 double-bedrooms in the tower suite. The rooms themselves are quite modest. However, the atmospher in the Tower is unbelievable for who (like me) enjoy old stones, Castle atmosphere and history feelings. The private access to a study room and to the top of the tower gives a very nice view point.
Food is also very good....

Very friendly staff, very delightful food.Very great look from the tower up to the bay
Stayed mid September 2011.
Good staff. Excellent breakfast. Vodka on the breakfast table to make a bloody mary. We didn't fancy one on this occasion but a nice quirky extra.
Rather dated decor. However, to be fair I think they are in the middle of a re-fresh. Thought the bed was huge until we realised it was 2 singles pushed...

We recently stayed at The Mansfield Castle Hotel in Tain, Scotland. We were in the area to attend a family wedding. We were very happy with the authentic and attractive structure of the hotel and its lovely grounds. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We also felt that the food was excellent. We would gladly stay there again.

What a great find! We had the Tower Suite --- unlock the door then up a private flight of stairs to two bedrooms and the...
