Owner runs a tight ship, but provides a very relaxing experience. He is very down to earth and seeks to please. The restaurant was exceptional in a really nice dining room (we had lamb and venison). Its pub features real ale (i.e. cask ale) and very welcoming locals. It is a beautiful location with spectacular views. Near all major Historic... More

We stayed in the chalet rather than the hotel but gave up all thoughts of self catering after our first meal - lovely cuisine using local produce prepared with care and flair by owner/chef Keith. Staying there mid-April we had the place virtually all to ourselves - Shetland doesn't really open to tourists until May!* However we had warm welcome... More

The Spiggie Hotel is perfectly situated for walking, bird-watching and generally chilling out. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Booked for two days and stayed for five. Food was excellent. Very nice single room.

We dined here for a birthday meal. The food was fantastic, could not fault it. From a party of seven there were no complaints, pudding was beautiful!! fantastic service and lovely wine! The only thing I would advise is for you to wrap up cosy! There was no one else eating that evening so we had the place to ourselves,... More

We couldn't recommend this place too highly. The situation is perfect- idyllic views (when you could see them!) over the loch and the sea, spectacular sunsets from the dining room (yes, we did get one on our second night). Add to this the quietness and the friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble - a trip to Mousa was booked... More

only stayed at the Spiggie one night but wish I had made it two. Becky was really helpful and very friendly. I found the hotel charming and the food was very good I would stay again.

We booked months in advance, our stay being high season. The hotel was locked and empty on arrival late afternoon, but a friendly person soon appeared from a nearby building, welcomed us, and showed us to our room – possibly the same one as reviewer EMG80 was given. The furniture, apart from the bed, was reminiscent of post war utility... More

We didn't stay here, just used the restaurant. But it was a gem, and not too expensive.

We didn't stay here but we do go for food about once a month as we live near by. This does not make the review one-sided. We're very picky about where we go for food and there is only a handful of places we go back to time and again. Spiggie Hotel is a favourite - for their friendly approach,... More

Given the reviews we had read, we were expecting a wonderful experience. However, we were a little disappointed. The overall impression was of a pub B&B rather than a fully serviced hotel. There is no reception or residents' lounge and doesn't seem to be any staff around during the day. The bed in our room was large and comfortable but... More
