While the staff are extremely helpful, this hotel is an utter let down. Rooms are run down, televisions have hardly any channels that are spread over several blank stations, and have very very tiny screens. Strange water pressure variations between tub and sink. Odd lighting situation with switches that make lighting one part of the room impossible without lighting the... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Clarence for 5 nights in February as part of a 3 month European trip which just ended, hence the delay in my rating. I booked The Clarence for several reasons including the location, the percieved ambiance and obviously the hotel's history. We reserved a room with a river view but were very pleasantly... More

We booked in recently overnight to celebrate a significant birthday - got royal treatment - upgraded to suite on 5th Floor - balcony overlooking Dublin city & Liffey - complimentary massage and cocktails before dinner - even a hug from concierge when we were leaving about 11.30 next day, asking why we were leaving so early. Facilities great, friendly staff.... More

Good location on the banks of the Liffey, close to Temple Bar. The hotel has lovely woodwork throughout, and the room had large bed, nice linen and good space. However, with single sash windows, there is a lot of road noise if you are overlooking the river. Dinner was good value, and wine list fairly reasonable. The octagon bar again... More

Stayed here as we were at a Ryan Adam's gig in the Olympia. Superb location for access to Temple Bar with its bars, restaurants etc. Hotel is showing its age a bit but both location and staff make up for it. On the night we stayed all of U2, Woody Harrleson, John Rocha & Guggi were in the tea rooms... More

I travel a great deal and consider myself to be both low maintenance and easily pleased. I was so underwhelmed by the Clarence that I checked out after one night. Honestly, I have stayed in better places in Kazakhstan. I will say the Butler was absolutely lovely, but beyond that, the hotel was overpriced and underwhelming. You can get far... More

I stayed there for 2 nights, it's so close to every main atraction in Dublin. The staff are so friendly as most Irish are, the rooms are relativly big. The restaurants are great, and the octagon bar is so beautifull.

The hotel couldn't be in a better location, but for the cost you are better off staying somewhere else (I recommend the Westin). The rooms at the Clarence were dated and dirty. Scuffed walls and stained carpet. The bathroom was horrible the tub was filthy. Staff was friendly. Bono should be embarrassed. It is definitely not a high end hotel.
