I've always wanted to stay at the Clarence due to its affiliation with U2 so it was pretty cool to get a room when i recently visited Dublin. I was surprised at how small it was with only 40 odd rooms but this in turn made it feel cosy and the level of service you get was fantastic. The rooms... More

Been to better hotels, but for us this has some spirit. Great cocktails. Tea room breakfast and dinner excellent. Location good. Going again in August 2013. Stayed in penthouse previously, great views. Can be noisy, but what do you expect being in the centre of Dublin? The suites are great, but we are equally as happy in a river view... More

I been to Dublin 4 times and always wanted to stay at the Clarence due to U2 connections. This past weekend my daughter treated me to a night there for my birthday. I also saw the hotel featured on Richard E grants hotels of the world. So I was very excited. The reality however was it just did not have... More

I was recently at the Clarence in Dublin. BIG disappointment in my opinion. Switched over to the Westin - was perfect. Originally picked the Clarence because of the U2 connection, one of the owners being Bono. Didn't expect to see the guy, but there were 6 of us drinking fine Irish beverages in the Octagon Bar one late evening. We... More

I start out every review this way. I'm on the road over 200 days a year and I stay in over 100 different hotels annually. In total I've stayed in over 1,000 hotels; everything from chains to boutiques. Having that history, I have a good baseline for hotels and reasonable expectations. The Pro's: I loved the feel of the hotel.... More

My wife and I stayed here as we were at a concert in the Olympia theatre, big mistake.... I can say that the location of the hotel was perfect for us but that's where it ends.On booking my wife asked did they cater for Coeliacs and they stated they had no problems with that.On arrival to the hotel I asked where... The Clarence is smack in the middle of everything hopping in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. It's pretty enough and the ammenities are good -- the Octagon Bar is fine -- it's just not all that, if you know what I mean. We stayed 4 nights and no, I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't stay again, but it's... More

We had a really enjoyable stay at the Clarence & will definitely be going back!! This hotel is a cut above, very discreet, very friendly & professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Always spoken to by the reception staff when entering & leaving the hotel. The room upgrade we were given to celebrate my birthday was a very pleasant... More
