The price of this hostel makes it worth it. It is in a great location and good value for money, I stayed here after missing a flight and it was fine for a one night stayover. Maybe not for people expecting too much, but you get what you pay for, and for the price this place is grand.

Because that's the only way I can explain the difference between what all the reviews said about it, and what we saw when we got there. I can't say much about the common rooms, because we took a private one, but I did get to see what the showers looked like, and they seemed more than ok. The staff was... More

This is without a doubt the worst hostel in all of Ireland. It looks ok from the outside but the inside is something directly from a horrormovie. First it takes like 5 minutes to get to your room through the underground corridor and the stairs, passing the kitchen/cellar where north/central african axmurderer-types are preparing what they call "food" (the smell... Browns Hostel is centrally located just a few streets East of the City Centre. There are a few things to consider when staying here though. 1. The showers. They are on the bottom floor of the hostel. There is no ventilation and everything smells moldy. If you dont bring your own towel, you will have to buy one from the... More

First of all, people have to remember that this is a budget hostel. When I booked it was the cheapest one available on the hostel website I used, so after checking on here and finding such negative reviews I was expecting something terrible. I was wrong! Firstly, the hostel has a really good location. If you're travelling to watch sport... More

It's hard to describe Browns Hostel! So i'll put everything in bulletpoints: 1. Hostel is in a really good location. However, there are lots of hostels on Lower Gardiner Street and if you're not going there on a weekend I would recommend shopping around and asking to see the rooms in each hostel before you book it! 2. The layout... More

Was excited for my bank holiday weekend in Dublin. Booked this hostel online as it seemed like a great deal, (didn't read the reviews), Showed up, everything seemed ok. Was given dodgy directions to my room, walked through the common areas, the place stunk like cat pee, walked into my room which was a filty mess. The bathrooms were disgusting,... More

avoid this hostel at all costs. I don't mind roughing every now and then but this was beyond a joke. our "bedroom" was underneath the stairs. Everytime anybody entered or left the hotel, it sounded like a heard of elephants were running across our ceiling. Never slept a wink all weekend. Plus the place stunk from loads of student types... I would strongly advise everybody to avoid this place at all costs, the place is a dump! Checking in was awful as the man booking us in was very unpleasant and argumentative. The smell throughout the place made me wretch everytime I went through. The showers and toilets were an absolute disgrace and you never felt totally clean. There was... More
