This hotel is very cheap and is in the centre close to all pubs and shops etc. The rooms are old and shabby although they are very clean. The food is not great at all so a thumbs down for that im afraid.

Stayed here for 1 night. We got assigned a room that appeared to be part of a 70's or 80's addition. Room was not charming and bathroom dirty. The old part of house had character which i liked and wished to see those rooms. Food was average. I have stayed in worse but at $150/night i would look for another... More

A friend and I completed a charity cycle through Ireland in August 2011 in aid of Enable Irealnd. We would like to thank the Owner/Management for their kindness and generosity in providing us with a complimentary twin room during our stay in Kilkenny! The hotel is beautiful and the room was perfect to rest up for the night. Very clean... More

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Room was quaint, so was decor. Bang in the middle of town. Breakfast was delicious and they gave me extra! Morning staff very helpful.

I stayed here for one night while passing through Kilkenny on a motorcycle road trip (the staff let us park our 'bikes under cover, which was great). It has an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the town's sights; the twin room I shared with a friend was a decent size and certainly clean enough, albeit not spotless. Breakfast... The Clubhouse Hotel is a lovely cosey old hotel, have stayed here many times and will do again. It has character that modern hotels today sadly do not have. The rooms are very comfortable with plenty of space and lovely sized bathrooms. The bar area and restaurant are great, the food is always delicious especially the herb and potato soup... More

The Club House was more of a dingy hostel with a not very clean en suite. We stayed in the extension at the back of the house and there was a nasty smell in the area. The double room had a bed comprising of two single mattresses in different states of collapse (very uncomfortable) and the shower temperature never passed... More

We arrived in Kilkenny without having booked accommodation and were able to take advantage of their walk-in rates - very good value! The Club House is a traditional hotel - long winding corridors and creaky floorboards. If modern/minimalist style hotels are your thing then give this a miss! It is more in the style of an old hunting lodge -... More

I booked a double room via the internet. Later that evening my phone rang, it was a lady from the hotel. She told me that although I booked a double room, it would in reality be a twin room. I told her I had the receipt for the booking which clearly stated the booking was for a double room. After... More
