Stay with group of friends after climbing croagh Patrick , lovely warm welcome - super organised! Lovely homemade bread for breakky - few home comforts very quaint!! Really enjoyable! If going back to Westport with a group would be booking again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are a small business and try to make it as much as possible a home away from home for our guests. It's great to hear that you enjoyed our home made brown bread. We have a lot of return visitors and they are always delighted to see... More

Stayed in Abbeywood with a group of friends after climbing Croagh Patrick. Lovely warm hostel when we arrived. Hot clean showers. The bedrooms were great, clean fresh smelling bed linen. Warm rooms and the view from our bedroom of the Reek was fantastic! Highly recommend Abbeywood. Friendly and helpful staff. I got to hire clean fresh fluffy towels which was... More

I have stayed at this place a few times in Westport and would definitely go back. Apart from the location, which is great, it's clean and friendly with a good atmosphere and has a bit of character about it. Can't ask for much more than that.

Me and my friend stayed here in June 2012 (bit late with the review!!). I'd never stayed in a hostel before so was a little dubious but was pleasantly surprised! Granted it wasn't full, on the first night there was a group of about 7-8 mountaineers (who returned very drunk and late, and apparently threw up in their room) but... More

Stayed: April 2010. Home-made brown bread. The host was very nice to use, friendly and easy going. She was putting together a small chest of drawers when we arrived, which was funny. The showers were kind of small, difficult to move in them. It's clear that this is an old-ish place with a specific atmosphere, maybe could benefit from a... More

A hidden gem, only minutes from town, spacious, rambling, a unique place to stay; if those walls could talk, what a marvellous story they could tell. Both Lorna and Efa looked after us splendidly especially as we had arrived with no prior booking. Thank you girls.

My sister and I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely house recently. We had a four bedded room all to ourselves, which was very clean and exactly what we needed after a great night out in Westport. The location is excellent for exploring all the delights that Westport has to offer. Comfort, friendly staff and good value for... More

'Just' out of town in westport ... by a few mins walk. Easy parking. Next to school / disused community hall? You can easily miss the sign if coming in from the Sligo. Definitely seen better days - if you're looking for a hostel with 'all the mod cons' this is not it. 2 floors, mixture of double room, family... More

I booked over 3 weeks ago, a friend of mine rang just last week to book a room and was told that everything had JUST been booked out. Thats a big time difference. Im assuming... More

What do you look for in a place to stay? Do you find hotels too expensive? B&Bs too claustrophobic and hostels too communal? Abbeywood gives you the best of all three...a former monastery, still retaining many of its original features such as stained glass windows, polished wood floors and high ceilings. Its situation, set in off the road in its own grounds makes it hard to believe it's so close to the centre of town. Come see us! ... more   less
