We booked this hotel as an affordable option when attending a wedding at a nearby De Verre and while i was a little concerned as to the quality I might find I have to say we got the best option. The hotel is a popular wedding venue in itself and given the location and the delightful food I can see... More

Our friend recently married and held the reception at the hotel. We initially tried to book a family room but they were taken so they reserved us two adjacent rooms for the same price. On phoning the hotel to see if early check in was still available (which it was) the receptionist promptly phoned me back to say the family... More

Have now stayed at the Wellington Arms on two occasions. Both have been very enjoyable. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is a joy. The menu is varied and, in my opinion, excellent quality and excellent value. Service was professional and swift when dining alone. Breakfast was also excellent with a good choice and again politely served. Would... More

Arranged to meet some business colleagues for a dinner meeting and decided to stay overnight. I was assigned an accessible room for some reason. It was OK but nothing special. The bathroom was very poor with a tiny basin and no storage. Worse the bathroom mirror was about 4 foot high and I am over 6 feet so not very... More

Halfway between home and where I was working, my wife and I arranged to meet up here for a meal. We arrived unannounced just after 9pm on a wet Wedneday evening. We found helpful staff and were shown straight to a table. There is a reasonable choice of wines and a good food choice. Steaks were excellent, service was attentive.... More

Having read previous reviews we were a little apprehensive about booking into this hotel, but its location was ideal for a planned meeting so we went ahead. Needn't have worried. From the time we walked up to Reception until check out time 2 days later, could not fault the hotel or the service its staff offered. From the very friendly... More

I have been staying at this hotel occasionally for ten years. The food has always been one of the best aspects of the Wellington Arms. The current approach seems to be to serve food in the bar rather than the restaurant. That really works as the bar is a cosy room with wooden panelling and a log fire. The food... More

We had lunch here on Friday, we both had prawn cocktail at £7.95 each as a starter which was pretty sad - served in cocktail glass and frankly was bit of lettuce, handfull of prawns and sauce (from a jar I would say). For the main I had seabream on rocket and my friend had a steak both were good.... More
