Just stayed four nights with a group. Lovely hotel but seemed incapable of catering for two vegetarians, even with advance notice. One dinner consisted of some plain boiled rice and a few green beans. Such a pity as the hotel was otherwise very nice. Gave up last night and brought in our own food. More

Stayed here for work for 3 weeks - A long stay, but the hotel was comfortable and staff friendly. The free wifi was essential. Rooms have been updated and modernised -The hotel is in a quiet location just a short walk across the bridge into Chinon town centre with it's restaurants, shops and bars. Ground floor rooms don't have a... More

This hotel is across the river from the main part of the city and castle, but it is extraordinarily comfortable and quiet with new beds, balconies and in some rooms great views of the castle. An even greater surprise came with the two meals I ate at the restaurant. I couldn't believe they'd been prepared by a restaurant chef. They... More

I took a group of 59 people. Rooms were good and all had balconies that either overlooked the river or the gardens. Breakfast very good but dinner did not suit all. Suggest group organizers be very specific in dinner arrangements. Downside to hotel was lack of casual seating of an evening and in bad weather - we were lucky. Most... More

Hotel rooms were adequate and modern, location was very good, swimming pool very good. Food was the problem! Breakfast was fine but we were part of a group of 70 people (Bexley Civic) and dinner was not good. The waitresses (3) were overloaded, they had to serve hors d'oeuvre, main course, sweet and coffee. We were told Somewhat rudely that... More

We stayed at Le Chinon in early december as most of the other options were closed for the season. Le Chinon is very dated, rather dark, with a musty smell and there is noting else that distinguishes it from the many 2 and 3 star hotels all over France. The location is not too bad though, only about a 10... More

We have stayed here more than once. Superb restaurant - ask for a terrace table on warm evenings. The views of the majestic castle perched on the cliffs aboce Chinon are stunning. Large comfortable rooms and great value More

We stayed for 2 nights as part of a 6 day cycle tour of the Loire and its chateaux. The hosts were great - one day we lost all our possessions when a pannier fell of on eof our bicycles - it had everything in it -passports, cash, credt cards, etc. The hosts were great - contacting the police and allowing... Attractive travel lodge type rooms with balcony. Pool with cover, attractive gardens with chairs & loungers, Very helpful staff, corridors & lift a bit basic, buffet breakfast better than standard. Left car here for a week with no problem whilst we went on bike tour. More
