Extremely hospitable and charming hosts, lovely house, comfortable bed, breakfast in a gorgeous breakfast room. We felt pampered. The Friday morning food market outside the close is great, and a 10 minute walk takes you right to the centre of the town. Parking outside was on a meter, but manageable and reasonable.

I thought finding a romantic place to stay in Caen might be a bit of a tall order, but Le Clos Saint Martin surpassed all expectations. The house is beautifully renovated, with fabulous attention to detail. There are tonnes of authentic character features, such as stone floors and exposed beams, all decorated with great style and charm and yet having... More

Cruise we did Brittany and Normandy. The second was a city of Caen. When we arrived at the hotel address, a bit surprised. The twelfth-century palace completely renovated. The hotel entrance approached another house you can see. The house is brand new on the inside. Very neat and clean. Thanks for your kind information, a housewife. One day is not... More

The easiest way to rate Le Clos is simply to echo the other 5-star reviews especially the one by CloseToTheGround. We tacked Caen (Normandy) onto the end of a Scotland/Ireland trip and were delighted to discover Le Clos. We did meet both Jean and Sylvie who could not have been more welcoming and accomodating. The room we had - Margaux... More

Searching for a B&B in central Caen did not look promising until we read the reviews for Le Clos St. Martin. And then, because the reviews were so good and we were booking only a month in advance, we felt sure that they would be fully booked. However, Lady Luck was on our side and we had the pleasure of... This was our first b&b in France during our 17 day trip and it became our favourite. We loved our 4 night stay in the charming chambre Louise: spacious, comfortable bed, modern bathroom. The mansion is beautifully appointed and elegantly furnished with a picturesque courtyard at the front. Our hostess Virginia was just wonderful & took very good care of... More

This beautiful 18th century home in Caen is the perfect setting from which to experience the charm of the French countryside in Normandy. Sylvie and Jean Noel are delightful hosts and very helpful in describing all the historical and artistic spots their part of the world has to offer (William the Conqueror, D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Honfleurs, etc.). Sylvie speaks fluent... More

We spent one evening here and it felt like royalty. We had a large room overlooking the courtyard, with lovely antique furniture. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Superb location to the old town. We stayed in Caen to be close to the D-Day beaches, despite being 30 minutes away it was well worth enjoying this... More

After a late crossing from portmouth to Caen, arriving at past 10pm, the unassuming door onto the street, lead through a small passage into a welcoming haven. We four, two adults and two children stayed in the marie suite, both very comfortable and appointed to a very high standard. Breakfast was home cooked, and enjoyable. English spoken. La clois is...
