The location of this hotel is just few minutes walk from Munich HBF (about 5mins walk). Not bad to go around the town since it is well situated. For those who doesnt speak German, Receptionists speak good English and helpful. Breakfast has good sort of selections. We were disappointed with the room which is the bad point: It is small,... Attached to the Hotel Alpen is a restaurant called Stefans. It is that restaurant that I am reviewing, not the hotel. This restaurant used to be a firm favourite whenever we visited Munich, once every two years; the Bavarian style fare was always delicious, the waiters great, and the place busy. However, it has now been 'modernised' so the menu... More

The hotel room was very nice and well maintained. If you are wanting a luxury suite set up, then go to the Hilton. For the price and location, it was very hard to beat the Alpen. For those of us who do not speak fluent German, the lobby staff speaks English. One of the other guests complained about an Arab... More

This hotel is excellently located--very close to the main train station in Munich and to a variety of dining, shopping, and tourist facilities. It is very clean. There was a variety of good food available at breakfast. However, I probably would not choose this hotel again. I think there are better hotels available in Munich for much less money, especially... This hotel is very suitably placed, being 5 mins stroll from the Hauptbanhoff and well located for the centre. It's also only 15-20 mins to the Hofbrauhaus so who can argue with that? Checking in was painless and the room was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was excellent and the minibar prices were quite reasonable. Strangely for a hotel... More

We decided to stay in a different part of Munich for our recent short break, near the Hauptbahnhof, even though friends said this was an 'interesting' choice and winked ominously. We expected full frontal Soho, but actually it was fine, more multicultural Bayswater. Out hotel was in a side street with a Turkish watering hole opposite, which is probably the... More

Easy walk from railway station. Quiet, comfortable room that looked out on to street, reasonable size. I like some fresh air, so opened windows, no big deal. Enjoyed fresh typical German breakfast with plenty of choice. Excellent staff. Able to walk to everything we needed, would be happy to stay here again. More

This is a very nice hotel in a convenient and quiet location. We stayed two nights with friends and had a great time. The staff were very helpful and the rooms beautifully clean and well appointed. The one odd thing was that the restaurant closed on a Sunday night but the receptionist booked us a nice place to eat and... More

Hotel awful. It is conveniently located in city centre. But opposite to hotel the Arabian cafe in which Arabs loudly sing songs is located and shout since morning till the late evening. Rooms in hotel very small also are badly equipped. Floors creak. Photos of rooms on a hotel site do not correspond to their actual condition. The owner of... More

Hotel location is very good, on a quiet street just two blocks from train station, and also two blocks from Stachus, where the main pedestrian street starts. Double door system in the room prevents hearing noise from the hall. Breakfast had good variety. On the negative side, my single room was a bit small. More
