first of all, keep in mind that this is a hotel attached to a religious community, catering, i suppose, primarily to pilgrim-types. so. don't expect ANY frills. there are twin beds in every room, so honeymooners (like us) be forwarned! the town *completely* shuts down at 6pm. so if you want to eat or drink later than that, bring your... Their own website always says no availability - we turned up and it was practically empty. Basically we spent a day in Barcelona and was planning on finding a B&B on the way to Montserrat but it's mostly motorway and only an hour away so we turned up after dark and hoped we could find somewhere to sleep because their... This is a fantastic place to stay with amazing views of the sunrise, hills and the Basilica if you're lucky enough to get one of the best rooms at the front. If you're visiting with children, it's good to know that one child can stay in your room free of charge. The out of season rate from November to March... More

We chose to stay overnight here so that we could enjoy some mountain hikes, time in the Basilica, and scouting out the immediate area. It was a great choice. First, the hotel room was exceptionally fine--we were lucky to get a room looking out over the mountains and the entrance to the Basilica. It was a comfortable room that was... More

This is one of Europes most fantastic places if you want to enjoy very special mountains and walk in fantastic paths and really enjoy the wilderness. This was our third trip to Montserrat and we will for sure come back many more times. This 3 star hotel has small rooms but if you are lucky you will get a room... More

Basic but tidy and clean hotel. The location is superb. I was lucky to be given a room with the front view. It was lovely to sit by the window and look outside. As there weren't many places to go for dinner. In fact, after 4-5pm, the few restaurants were closed. So, we checked out the hotel restaurant and the... More

This hotel is perfectly located if you want to explore the mountain. I took my mother and she uses a cane and having the hotel room meant she could was to explore at her own pace. Parking on the mountain to visit can mean a very long walk uphill to the buses this would have been impossible. More

The room I was given was at the back facing a mossy concrete wall. This was extremely disappointing considering most rooms have magnificent views of the mountains and monastery. The room was large and comfortable, The disappointing aspect was the food - the dinner was so ghastly most of us could not be bothered eating it. The entree was a... More

***Visited Feb 2010*** We were in Barcelona for 5 days and decided to spend a night in Montserrat. We took the train out of Barcelona, took the cable car up to the monastery, toured the grounds, paid homage to the Black Madonna, enjoyed the breathtaking view and marveled at its history. We were also lucky to have witnessed the Escolania... More

This is the worst hotel I have seen in Spain ! We paid 114 euro for a double room without air conditioning, sound proof windows and walls. the church bells ring every 15 minutes, all night long ! ...and from 6 o'clock in the morning it's a concert !! Basically we slept 3 hours or less !! This is a... More
