We actually booked Aventino hotel which belongs to the family of 3 hotels in this neighborhood (Aventino, San Anselmo and Villa San Pio). We called them 2 days in advance to confirm that we were coming late in the evening; nobody mentioned anything that our room was taken or something of that kind. When we actually arrived we were told... More

We stayed for 5 nights and the room was very clean and spacious and had a small balcony to sit and watch the world go by. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden every morning and the food selection was excellent, particularly the coffee. The Hotel is in a very safe and quiet neighborhood, yet close to the Metro and great... Very pretty hotel with very nice rooms. Breakfast in a garden room that is lovely. For people who love to walk everywhere like us, it is perfect---we walked miles and miles all over Rome, happily returning up the Aventine Hill. The hotel seems to be getting quite a following so booking early will probably get you better rates. Staff at... More

Aventino is a lovely area - peaceful, fantastic views over the city only 5 minutes' walk away, two metro stations within 10 minutes and a taxi rank at the foot of the hill (and a small supermarket, useful for snacks). Relatively untouristed, but a great selection of nice restaurants within 10 minutes' walk (the hotel has a good list of... More

Villa S. Pio is very nice and very good value for money. I just spent 10 nights there and was entirely satisfied. Located on the Aventino hill, it's a 10 minute walk from the funky Testaccio neighborhood with its numerous great restaurants. It's also between two metro stations--Circo Massimo and Piramide--which makes it easy to get around, should one get... More

This was a business trip, but my wife, who loves Rome, was with me. The hotel has great charm and very helpful staff. Our room appeared to be bathed in golden light thanks to the color of the wallpaper. The mattress was average and overshot the bedframe on both sides; the shower (in the bath) was excellent. The sound insulation... More

This hotel is situated in the best district for staying in Rome. It’s located next to Coliseum and river in a very quiet and green zone. If you don’t like huge globalized stone-money-comfort-standard places – choose this one. It’s small and friendly, has it’s own little garden – so you can have a breakfast in the open air and have... We had a beautiful stay at Villa San Pio. The hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Rome, one of the residential parts of Rome. To go to the centre you better take the underground 2 stops to the colloseo, walking to the centre takes about 30-45 minutes. Overall the service was good, the staf was... More

Had one double and one quad with huge terraces. Both rooms had nice bathrooms and lots of space. Hotel breakfast was nice, lots of choices. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to walk to many sights. We were lucky enough to spend quality time with friends that live in the same neighborhood as Villa... More

We took advantage of my husband's having a conference in Rome by inviting our daughter over her Spring Break to join us from college, and we spent four days in heaven. Of course Rome does that to one, regardless of where you stay, but having the Villa S. Pio there as a welcoming haven and an oasis of calm at... More
