we stayed here for a total of nine nights in june on a class trip from a catholic university. madri pie is run by nuns and can be a little startling to see them everywhere if you are a southern baptist like me lol but every single one of the staff and desk clerks were so friendly and courteous and... The first strong point of this convent/hotel (it is really neither) is its location: St.Peter's square is less than 5 minutes walk away (see unretouched photo taken from our room's window); the bus stop to downtown Roma is 45 seconds walk from the hotel front door; a city bus hub with several lines to multiple destinations is 2 minutes away.... Well situated near the Vatican, friendly service by Peruvian nuns, basic but adequate breakfast, basic but adequate rooms (with separated beds, and bathroom with shower and bidet), information about city/neighbourhood available at reception desk. Luggage room available. Temperature in upper corridors were tropical in March, because " we have winter now, the heating is turned on, the air-conditioning does not... More

Our family of four had a lovely stay at the Residenza Madri Pie. After arriving from Spain, we took the city bus as close as we could and pulled our suitcases through the city streets to find the residence. Along the way we ended up walking up the street to St. Peter's at dusk. The crowds were gone, and it... More

As the convent I had previously visited was booked, I turned to a new one, Residenza Madri Pie, which I booked through MonasteryStays.com. You pay a little more when you book through this agency, but so far, I have had very good experiences with their program. The convent was situated on a beautiful piece of property, with lovely gardens and... More

Our family of 5 stayed in two rooms (one room with three beds) during our three day visit to Rome. The location is great because it is a five minute walk from St. Peter's Square and there are very good restaurants within a two minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are extremely clean. The bathroom was a nice size... More

The best part of this is the location. You are literally a block from St Peter's! Hard to get much closer. Other pros were that it was very quiet, clean, and I felt safe when inside it. I actually never heard any other guests when I was in my room (besides doors opening and closing). Breakfast was typical Italian-bread items... More

We stayed here for 6 nights in October 2011. Loved the location of the hotel. It's a 5 minute walk to the Vatican and in a quiet area of town. It is close to restaurants and other small shops. The room was sparse but clean and comfortable. The shower was tiny and hard to move around in. The bathroom would... More

The location was wonderful, the rooms were clean. The front desk staff were cold and impersonal - they need to work harder on their customer service. The nuns in the breakfast room were much friendlier, maybe they should work on the front desk. A real 'nickel and dime' attitude - they charge an outrageous 5Euros for 30 minutes on their... More

Exellent, rooms were plenty big enough (we had 3 in our room), plenty of room in bathroom, tho sparce by American standards, couldn't get over how spotless not only our rooms were but the entire hotel, same as before. Perfect location, very safe, had elevator, great breakfast, served by the nuns. Wonderful pretty chapel on 3rd floor as well. No... More
