I wish I could rate this hotel higher because we loved Urbino. We had a difficult time trying to find a boutique style hotel (usually our preference) located in the town, as we were visiting in November. The directions were somewhat vague, but we (amazingly) arrived at the front door. We took advantage of the available parking, and loved the... More

This is a simple, lovely, clean hotel that should be toward the top of every list for all visitors who intend to visit the captivating, charming city of Urbino. It's right across from the Duke's Palazzo. It's in a lovely old building. It's great.

I recently stayed at the Albergo San Domenico on a bicycle tour across Italy. This was my second visit to Urbino and the Albergo, and I was looking forward to a pleasant stopover in this most beautiful hill town. My room was on the fourth floor, and was very spacious with a view over the rooftops toward the mountains I... More

There are personel cuts everywhere in Europe but when the hotel is 300 $ a night the least you can expect is to someone to help you with your luggage. No sir, you have to carry your own. When you look in the web you see that the hotel is in the center of Urbino and when you open the... More

Hotel is in an ideal location: directly across from the Duke's palace and walking distance to everything. We had a very large room overlooking the car park (which was good, because there is less noise than on the street side of the building). Also, they have a car park! Very unusual in cities like this. Breakfast was quite good and... More

A great location right across from the Ducal palace in Urbino. The AC problem in our original room was quickly resolved by helpful staff who relocated us into a even nicer room. Parking might seem expensive( 9e/night ) but is in own internal court and like gold in a italian hill town. WIFI , unlike many hotels, worked well. Breakfast... More

very spiffy, renovated,, modern hotel in old building directly on the square facing the Ducal Palace of Urbino. Great location for seeing the sights and walking everywhere, closed in parking behind hotel. Clean, lovely room, delicious breakfast inside or outside on patio. Helpful staff at desk who know the city and restaurants.

I tend to agree with previous reviewers: you couldn't ask for a better location, right in front of Palazzo Ducale and Duomo. The rooms are almost spartan, but large. I was surprised to discover that they could not provide me with an iron and ironing board, especially considering that they do not have their own dry-cleaning service (they did, however,... More

After staying in Urbino once before, we knew the parking problems, so resolved on our next visit we would splash out by staying at the San Domenico. We even opted for an "Executive" room as opposed to the basic "Business". It's certainly convenient, and the room was large and clean. But it's very expensive (€158 double), the decor is quite... If this is the best Urbino has to offer by way of hotels, I'd say try B&B's. This place is tired and nowhere close to what it could be. The location is great, right across the street from the ducal palace, but it is not the "luxury experience" it pretends to be. Nothing special in fact, very, very average (and... More
