I found this hotel while booking a last-minute trip to Bologna and it exceeded all expectations. It is centrally located in the heart of the old city and has the friendliest staff imaginable. Eliza at the front desk greeted us warmly upon arrival, helped us park easily in front of the hotel and guided all our eating decisions and tour... More

Basically I want this hotel all to myself. I stumbled across it entirely by accident (actually by recommendation from Daniel in the chicken shop on the corner of Castiglione and Orfeo ... sumptuous and succulent chicken by the way). Marvelous high and arched ceiling with purple background frescoes in the entrance lobby. Antique tomes on the coffee tables. Cosy but... More

We stayed here for four nights over a long weekend and used the hotel as a base for exploring Bologna on foot. The hotel is around 15 minutes to the centre but it is a nice walk and there are several routes to take in this delightful city. We had a "superior" room at the back of the ground floor... More

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights to explore Bologna. Great little hotel with a small number of rooms. There were many nice touches including the silk rose rooms keys and complimetary umbrellas. Continental breakfast was fresh with fabulous italian coffee served. The old convent is well decorated with distinctly modern room designs. Staff were very friendly and the little... More

The hotel is located in an old convent, historically known for its silk production. Location - about 1 km from city center, but within the old city walls. The concept is fine. The decor and quality isn't of as high a standard as could be expected (listed as historical quality hotel). Good breakfast, ok room and extremely helpful staff with... More

We stayed at Il Convento for two nights in March 2013. We had a wonderful experience here beginning with the front staff (believe her name was Laura) helping us park our car into a tiny little spot. She proved extremely helpful throughout the stay including making several lunch and dinner reservations for us. I cannot speak highly enough about the... More

We spent three nights here. Excellent service and advice given on matters bolognese, restaurants were booked for us willingly. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable, modern and nicely quirky with large floral themed illustrations, and a random selection of light fittings. The main reception lounge area looks like the old nunnery chapel, with some remaining... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We really liked that this was a converted nunnery with the original features, and yet the bedrooms were furnished in a modern style. All the staff were brilliant (including the cutest dog ever) - we had excellent recommendations for restaurants from them and they even put a bottle of prosecco with... More

This is a lovely hotel set in a former convent. This photos of the frescoed ceiling are of the foyer and communal area. Disappointingly the rooms have modern decor. It is a bit out of the way if you are walking to the main sights. However the hosts are extremely helpful and welcoming which more than made up for this.
