My daughter and I visited Paolo and La Scogliera in the middle of May. We were thankful to have made it after encountering one of Italy's famous train strikes! We made it with many thanks to an amazing Italian lady who guided us with the help of our Italian translator book. Our room was perfect. The sound of the ocean... More

La Scogliera had a perfect view of the sea. We stayed in the bedroom the first night and the apartment the second night. We didn't make anything in the kitchen at the apartment but it was useful to have the fridge to store juice and yogurt. The cabinets were stocked with oils, seasonings, and pasta. We got there late at... More

Wife and I stayed two nights in May 2012. Great views from the room and the sound of the ocean was amazing (although it took a little getting used to!). Paolo is a great host -- made us a lemon cake and some Lemoncello -- wonderful! Riomaggiore is a great little town -- our favorite amongst the Cinque Terre.

Fantastic views, great location and amazing people. We stayed in the apartment over Easter weekend of 2012 and Paolo and his family made us feel totally at home. They even suprised us with a homemade pie and wine on Easter morning. During our stay, the coastal trail was only open from Riomaggiore to Manarola and from Monterossa to Vernassa, so... More

We stayed one night in the room (April 2012) and found it to be a wonderful place. The amazing view from the window with the sound of the waves, the delicious food in the village, the friendly hosts and the breathtaking scenery made this an unforgettable first visit to Riomaggiore. I wish we could have stayed longer and next time... More

The last reviewer Pat M said it all and I totally agree this little place is amazing! We stayed 3 nights, here in Riomaggiore, also in the room with the view out to the sea and it was wonderful to hear the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks directly below us. Despite an emergency taking our host Paolo away... More

Wow... This place is amazing! My wife and I just got home to Santa Barbara and I'm finally sitting down to write some reviews. Were both well traveled people and we know a good thing when we see it, let me tell you, this is a good thing! The room is super clean, the bed is quite comfortable (sometimes hard... More

We just returned from Rio Maggiore (March 2012) where we stayed for four (4) nights at La Scogliera. It was 'magical!' We have traveled a lot, we read all of the reviews and our first reaction was, 'wow, this place is a LOT bigger than we anticipated!' Sure the steps are significant, but you should have known that if you're... More

We stayed during the offseason in march. We traded sun and fun for fewer crowds. The apartment was clean, the shower hot and the view from the balcony priceless. The proprietors are lovely As per prior reviews there are a lot of stairs to and from la Scogliera and quite a descent from the parking area. If coming by car,... More

Stayed at the apartment 194 Salita Castello in early January 2012 as La Scogliera was occupied. Cinque Terre is definitely a must-visit if you are traveling in Italy. Due to the flood in Vernazza and Corniglia, we only managed to walk the Via dell'Amore from Riomaggiore to Manarola. We also visited Monterosso al Mare by train for Euro 2 per... More
