Infound this hotel to be a pleasant surprise. It is an almost 4 with 5 aspirations but a few 3 qualities, one of which was the uncomfortable mattress and the odd AC. I gave up trying to turn it on and opened the window. The weather was nice enough. No internet in the rooms so everyone was crammed in the... More

Just returned after having spent 5 nights there with my sister. My experience was identical to that of Ladyrhodes. Older guy on evening shift at reception this week was so obnoxious that that I was shocked that no-one has sacked him. We had the same experience with the bar closing at 10.00 pm and being unpleasantly refused a drink -... More

I stayed in the Golden Tulip, Genoa for two nights at the beginning of May. In appearance it is pretty and very elegant. My room was small but had everything I needed apart from wifi which is only available in the lobby/bar. Unfortunately that's where the positives finish. On arrival the young male desk clerk seemed very dismissive, did not... More

the location is just in front of the station and it is very convenient for lot/or heavy luggage travelers. It is a bit old fashion and it smells old but perfect for business trips and for one night staying. The breakfast is good and there is a wide choice, also the Focaccia! Internet in the room is not wi-fi but... More

I wasn’t expecting much of this hotel as it was booked at the last minute and seemed very old from the outside. The interior seemed very old fashioned with wall to wall carpets and tiny elevator. The room was a pleasant surprise though- very large, with a large bed, new, flat screen TV and full satellite channels and a huge... More

My husband and I slept there while traveling from Nice, FR, to Florence, IT. We dined and had breakfast at the hotel. the staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast had a lot of options, with yogurts, but no fruits. There's an elevator in the hotel and the staff carried our backpacks up, wich was news to me and a break... More

We came to the Moderno Verdi for 2 nights. We were boarding a cruise from Genoa and arrived a couple of days prior to embarkation. Moderno Verdi Hotel has an excellent location, on the square (Giuseppe Verdi Square (Piazza)) just across the street from Brignole train station. Staff was nice; we arrived late and were starving; it was a Sunday... More

After touring between Liguria and Toscany, a two-night stopover was spent in Genoa and the Moderno Verdi by the train station. It is a very classic old hotel with upgraded rooms (small but functional), bathroom ok standard and breakfast above average with Italian measurments. It is conveniently located on walking distance to the city and the old-town (very nice), which... More

A little difficult to find at first, it's about 20 yards from the Genoa Brignale railway station, to the left of the entrance. Look for a big 'M' sign with the the word 'Garage' underneath. Checkin was fairly quick and reasonably friendly, although they did keep my drivers license until I checked out (not sure why that policy is, but... More

No way this is a 4 star hotel by any standard. The receptionist was outright rude and impatient. He made us feel like we were a bother for him. I would not stay here again just before of that. Rooms are acceptable. Location is next to the train station, which can be useful for those planning to explore the region.... More
