We stayed in room 13 entered through a quiet inner courtyard. Room was thoroughly updated including seismically, yet retaianed many of the old architectural features. Spacious and quiet with good matress, desk, but no television. Excellent buffet breakfast with eggs, yogurt, juice, fresh fruit, and a variety of delicious baked goods. Not in Ortigia, but only a 5 minute walk.

Although the staff were pleasant there wasn't a magical welcome. However the facilities were excellent and location allowed an easy stroll to the old town for bars, cafes and restaurants. Also a nice walk up to the ancient ruins that the town is famed for. Great value for money overall.

Syracuse was for sure the very best spot on our tour of Sicily. Casa Mia (not sure if this is a hotel or B&B) is located on the edge of the "old town" (the peninsula). Parking was an issue though.
