We went with a pilgrimage group. Hotel was fine and location was excellent - close to the duomo (cathedral). BUT - staff curiously unengaged with clientele - no friendliness/human contact. .Recommend a training course on how to smuile and make guests welcome. Continental breakfasts, with only boiled eggs/scrambled egg on toast approximating to the hot full English; not even tomatoes.... More

This is a comfortable hotel in Ortigia Island, the oldest part of Syracuse town. The wonderful Duomo and its piazza it is one block away. The Staff is good. The restaurant and waiters is very good. The breakfast is regular! The location is perfect, my room was really good.

It is really difficult to give a judgement of this hotel valid for all its guests, since its assessment depends mainly on the individual plans and habits; and here is why. If you are planning to spend outside most of your day, either for business or for sightseeing, in other words if you are going to use the hotel only... More

The staff were very friendly and welcoming to our group. I had an excellent room, one of those shown on the hotel website, with good bathroom and closet. Balcony was rather strange as it had a high wall, but it gave fresh air when required. I thought the breakfast was good, although the coffee was on the weak side. I... More

This comfortable hotel is shoehorned into the narrow streets of Ortigia, the oldest part of Syracuse. The wonderful Duomo and its piazza are at the end of the short street. The reception area and adjoining bar are small, and the rooms are OK without being spacious. We had French windows leading to a small balcony overlooking the pedestrianised Via Minerva... More

Hotel Roma is in a really great location right in the centre of the historical district of Ortiga Island, Syracuse. The hotel is located just behind the Cathedral and is just steps away from the main shopping streets and many restaurants. The hotel is clean and comfortable with attentive staff and for us it ticked all the boxes. Rooms start... More

The location of the Hotel Roma is superb. It is around the corner from the main piazza in the oldest part of the city. The hotel is clean and the room are generous by standards in Italy. We found the service to be very good from the front desk. The ony disappointment was breakfast. Siracusa is surrounded by orange and... More

We ended up staying here more or less by accident as the self-catering option we had booked outside Syracuse had two bedrooms less than the website said. We booked the Roma as the first suitable option we found, and it couldn't have been better. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the old town of Ortigia and next... More

I have stayed at this hotel twice. Once in the fall of 2011, to vet it for a conference, and again in January 2012 to hold the conference. I have been taking groups of Americans overseas for 15 years for cultural/educational conferences that combine charming places to stay, lectures on on literature and history, and guided sightseeing. Of the many... More

This hotel is amazing. Siracusa is a fantastic location and this hotel makes it even more worth visiting. The staff are helpful and go the extra mile to make sure all is organised even if it is not necessarily hotel related. The answer is never ‘no’, but ‘let me see what can be done!’ The rooms are large and very... More
