This is a very nice hotel which was once a ceramics workshop. Hence the interesting artwork around the hotel. It is very near the Corso Umberto, and all the shops and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good in a lovely classical room. The only downside is the racket that comes from the Scala "restaurant" nearby. A very poor singer equates shouting with singing, and the whole din is ramped up with amplifies speakers. And it goes on until midnight. Although there are shutters and double-glazed windows, it is impossible to shut out the caterwauling idiot on the electric guitar. I should add that I wear hearing aids in both ears, and even without them, and the windows tight shut, I could not contemplate sleep until well after midnight. It might be less annoying if the singer could actually sing, rather than make a loud noise. This is so unfair on this hotel, and those around it who must lose bookings because of this inconsiderate idiot. In the UK, the local council would shut the noise down, but not here apparently.

Nice hotel. Nice roof terrace. Helpful staff. The location requires walking in slopes and stairs, but the stunningly beautiful view makes it worth the effort. Opportunity to take a funicular railway to the beach. The beds are typically Italian (= quite hard and short, but we slept well) At breakfast there was more to choose from than many other hotels in Italy. Got a free upgrade to a super nice room with sea views on request.

Had a great stay at the hotel Vello D’Oro found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a good outside space overlooking Taormina. Roof top bar has spectacular views of the town and Mount Etna. Great location and loved the magic door from the hotel giving access to the Main Street with the many restaurants and bars. There is a half decent breakfast that was plentiful for us. All in all a great hotel a tad dated but great location, friendly, clean and comfortable.

The views from the rooms were incredible. The nearby restaurants, entertainment, shopping and cultural areas are not to be missed. The location is very convenient to everything. Bello bello bello❤️

If you like quirky, vintage hotels, this is the place for you. The architecture and decor inside of the hotel is one-of-a-kind. There were a few features to the hotel that made our stay enjoyable: sun-bathed dining room for breakfast, really nice roof-top bar/lounge/patio, cooky decor throughout the hotel. You can't really walk from the hotel to the beach, but there's a well-priced service that gives you a ride to and from the beach, and includes chairs/umbrella. Otherwise, the location of the hotel is great. Even though you're in the midst of the touristy scene, it's quiet.

The location is great- its midway from the main street of restaurants and bars. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had a balcony with a stunning view of the coast and mt etna. Breakfast was adequate with rolls, pastries and cakes, cheese, ham cereal and juices (You can request a machine coffee from the waiters). Access to the main street via a lift down from the hotel. We didnt have a car but parking looks very limited as its on a narrow road.

On the plus side this hotel had much old world charm, some may say dated. It is within fairly easy reach of Corso Umberto, the main shopping street in Taormina. Our room was very spacious, though as the weather was not good it got quite cold, especially the bathroom. Our room had a sea-facing balcony, though our balcony was surrounded by a neighbouring balcony so there was a lack of privacy issue here. It’s not the hotel’s fault but there was loud music playing three of our four nights here which didn’t finish until after midnight. It came from a music venue nearby. The breakfasts were very generous though very continental in nature i.e: lots of bread & pastries. Fresh fruit & cereals were also supplied. The staff were all very helpful though language was bit of a problem sometimes. The hotel has magnificent views over Taormina & towards Mt.Etna from the rooftop terrace. Alas we only got the benefit of this the day we were leaving when the sun finally agreed to appear.
