while touring southern tuscany booked a flat at the Borgo Il melone. they have small apartments and hotel rooms, tried their cooking school which was a delight. The staff could not have been any kinder if they tired. Got to peek into the owners private chapel. It was super. Minutes from cortona, Lago TRasimeno and wine country.
Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in Tuscany. Beautiful facility. Great breakfast (extra charge--worth it!). Very clean, nice pool, nice restaurant, beatiful grounds. Extra helpful staff. Laundry facilities available. For some unknown reason, our GPS could not locate the place.

Borgo Il Melone was one of the better places we have stayed in our 20 years of traveling in Europe. It felt a little like we were guests at someone's private estate. The beautiful buildings and grounds and pool were clean and modern, but one could also sense the deep past of a property that has been around for a...

I needed a two day stop between Florence & Rome to get my daughters some "pool time" between the touring. Two main reasons I chose Il Melone was the beautiful pool that advertised snack bar(Im thinking this is great for lunch since I didnt have a car) and the spa/painting/cooking class services they advertised. True, I did not book ahead...
